Curses. Foiled Again!

From where I'm sitting in Cal. at 9:45 it's over. Romney is losing the popular vote, too.

****

Karl Rove will go to his grave certain that the Hispanics can save the Republican Party because he always forgets that these so-called hard working, entrepreneurial, church going people are from Mexico, a socialist State and the ones we've imported are freeloaders, criminals, lazy, ignorant, low IQ mestizos, high school drop outs, and single unwed mothers.

****

Gun sales were going well before. They'll explode again now. I need two weapons myself. A long rifle and a revolver for the missus. I'll need to start buying more ammo, too. I think I'd like a .22 somewhere in the mix. They're not expensive, the ammo doesn't cost so much, and it's a gun. Not an elephant gun, but flash bang, it scares people a little, too.

****

I guess the polls weren't as wrong as many of us believed. Second time in a row I've been fooled by wishful thinking. The media is so thoroughly corrupt, how can we not totally distrust their polling?

****

Damn, but this is painful. What especially hurts is that all those idiots on the Left think this is like the Second Coming. So much will be so much better now, they think. Not everything, of course, but a lot.

They have no idea what's coming. Not to them, of course. They won't feel a thing in Hollywood, New York, Washington.

****

Let's look at what's in store.

Talking heads are saying the Reps in the House will block Obama and second terms are notoriously difficult for presidents.

But Obama has no intention of working across the aisle. He never did. The EPA will go about shutting down every oil and gas rig in the country and making the ones on private land as hard to operate as possible.

Coal is finished.

Obamacare goes to work destroying health care. Taxes go up. Costs go up. Food goes up. More money is printed. Deficits increase by leaps and bounds.

No new refineries of oil get built. Gas gets to $6 a gallon and the oil companies get blamed, of course, when it's simply impossible for them to deliver gas to meet the demand and, like people do when there's a demand, they raise prices. They get charged with gouging.

Electric bills keep going up. New generating plants aren't built. In fact hydro-electric dams keep getting dismantled. The grid doesn't grow to meet demand or to create surplus. Brown outs in California and the West, maybe elsewhere.

Texas is tempted to secede.

Some people wonder why so many movies and TV shows are apocalyptic lately.

Here's why.

People write apocalyptic stories when they've lost every last shred of hope. For the ancient Jews, prior to the time of Christ and during, they realized that the Romans weren't going away and nothing could make them but God and Judgment Day. So bring it on, and here is what it looks like.

Same thing today for the Left and Right. For the Left, people are evil, this world will never be paradise, humans shouldn't live, they make life miserable, and life sucks because you have to work at jobs you hate and can't frolic and play and make art and music and eat figs so Global Warming is coming to kill us all, you fools! Or something else. You're all too fat! Your food is all carcinogenic! Vaccines will kill your babies (and enough do to warrant concern).

They want the Apocalypse like they want the Flood to purge the world of human vermin.

On the Right, we've lost all hope in ever restoring a nation that respects the rule of law, moral decency, and liberty to build a life through personal sacrifice and responsibility. For every man who has initiative, a thousand others want something for nothing. And are getting it. Individualism is dead. Common cause is useless (as this election proves for the Right). There is no place in this world for goodness, truth, and beauty.

The rich and the political are plundering the nation of its wealth. We're all being reduced to beggars. God, God, God! Bring the Judgment Day!

The ancient Greeks believed that the worst of human delusions was that of false hope -- and the kicker is that they tended to believe that all hope was false.

But life is sustained on the delusion of false hope. Our culture, stories, movies, TV, comic books et al, all support the general idea that here and there, some people can get what they want, even a lot of what they wanted. Most Americans wanted a family, a house, vacations, good health, a decent job, and that's what so many achieved.

But like all people, they wanted more. The unionized baggage handler with the good salary started stealing from luggage. Formed a gang. Cops went to work and found places to sleep their shifts away. Bureaucrats ignored the in box, transit workers got a doctor to say their backs were bad and got early retirement with huge pensions.

And on and on it went -- all the little compromises of character and morals until you had a nation of rationalizing thieves, takers, cheats, and scumbags.

You see, the more Christian a nation, the more honest it is. The greater the social capital and trust. This isn't true of Islamic, Buddhist, or Hindu places. And not necessarily with Jews when they are dealing with Gentiles. Jews with Jews, yes, but not always Jews with Christians or others.

In the 60's Catholics began defying the moral teachings, but still went to Church and took Communion. They destroyed their devotion, morality, and honesty.

The Protestants decided they were racists and needed to atone by abandoning the confidence they once had in their religion.

Only the Evangelicals, the crazies, the snake handlers and poison drinkers, stood against sec'lar 'umanism.

Jews, of course, had long abandoning religion but not self-righteousness. They knew so much better than anyone else how the world should be run and proceeded to acquire the power to run the country. So few a percentage, so influential a body, and acquisitive of becoming half of media, Hollywood, publishing, finance, and a good deal of academia, the arts, and charitable foundations.

America, it's plutocrats against the will of the people had opened its arms to the world and the world destroyed it; along with self-corruption, the curse of prosperity.

****

Well, the country has brought about its own demise. It voluntarily committed suicide. So what next?

Disintegration, poverty, misery, and suffering.

God, how I once loved this nation and its people.

You see, I anticipated these days many years ago with this:

After the Fall of Atlantis

Many years must pass before great loss
is fully gripped; like a blow whose ache and throb
grows slowly until, at last, pain comes
that buckles knees on beds of sharp wire.

I have sat and brooded somewhere on a hill;
looked back with cheeks wet, red with salt and blood
lamenting all that's lost; destruction that's
complete: golden cities crushed to dust.

All things green have gone to rust. Not dead,
but lifeless like thin stones. Many white stones
in mounds trailing behind me. Empty plains
where once great herds and beings lived then vanished.

Rivers run low and brackish. Oceans slap
the shores in sluggish motion. Waves are dead.
The winds that come bear scent of carrion;
and insects have their kingdom, now, at last.

But I am prince upon this wasteland,
riding sorrel mares across its deserts,
and make my camp in anyplace, and brood
upon the desolation and the loss.
