Hard to Believe

Two editions of Ebony Magazine were delivered by error to my house. My wife decided to read them and came across this unbelievable nugget/factoid in their October 2012 volume, page 88 Health segment.

Here is the sidebar verbatim:

ACADEMIC GENES Earning a diploma isn't simply about smarts. Researchers have discovered that academic achievement may also be genetic. A national study involving thousands of young people published in Development Psychology found that one's ability to finish high school and go to college was linked to three genes: DAT1, DRD2, and DRD4. These genes are connected to behaviors such as attention regulation, motivation, violence, and intelligence.

The idea that poor academic performance and good behavior might be genetic (or racial, biological) has been denied with great vehemence by the the black elite and intelligentsia for over a hundred years. remember the howls when The Bell Curve came out?

Even so, amongst themselves, blacks looked at the studies, the mass of their people, the crime rate, and general behavior and admitted in private what some whites said in public despite knowing how vilified they'd be.

Yet, here we have a major media icon of the black bourgeoisie admitting out loud that a large part of the problem with their ne-er-do-well population might not be the white man, per se, but their own genetic code.

That raises many new questions such as -- are they going to be wanting the white/Asian/Jewish man engineering their code with, oh, say Ashkenazi alleles or some such thing to boost their ability to assimilate into a civilized society and perform better?

Of course, that goes to the question of whether mankind is going to get into the business of designer babies (which is already taking place on a smaller such as choosing high IQ sperm donors, or selecting for looks and intelligence delivered by surrogate mothers).

It is going to do that, of course. What mother can resist wanting a better, smarter, healthier infant? And what husband will be able to say, no?
