The New Civil War

John Derbyshire made a number of salient points in his most recent podcast.

He pointed out that it was white Northern Yankees who beat white Southern Rebs in this election (as in many past ones).

Look at the stats and realize that most deep South whites voted 80% and better for Romney, whereas in all the Northeast States and Midwest ones, they went for Obama.

The Derb points out that Northern whites (liberals) hate Southerners and vice versa, no differently than in 1850.

This is a war between whites and their Regions. The minorities, of course, helped the Yankees who couldn't have won without them, but the battle is between whites.

The battle is being lost, though, in the sense that while whites are destroying whites, the minorities get more and more power and numbers.

Derb points out that all whites will eventually be forced to be become as tribal as minorities and will vote their color and culture as a bloc. Derbyshire quotes the former head of Singapore as saying that in multi-ethnic societies, every group votes its tribe and nothing else.

It may be a little encouraging to realize that even in the Yankee states like Maine, 40% of whites went Republican and nearly 50% in Ohio, Wisconsin, etc.

If you think about it, though, it makes perfect sense to see it in terms of Blue and Gray since the antipathy to Southerners in the Media, TV, literature, and Hollywood is still so great in mockery and ridicule. Yet, I've heard from many how wonderful white Southerners are -- gracious, kind, polite, friendly, smart, funny, and decent.

Derb also pointed out that in the South, whites live with a great many blacks in their midst and know them well, whereas in most of the North apart from urban areas, there's hardly any in much of New England, for example, blacks aren't as great a threat to political dominance, life, and property.
