On day 2 of the race, I arrived at 2:00 AM at a remote place called Coffee Creek, after 20 hours of continuous paddling, the last 10 of which were in a rainstorm. There was a large tent canopy set up, in the middle of which was a large kettle of vegetable soup.

Never in my life have I tasted such delicious soup. I scarfed down several large bowls. Even in my half delirious state, I could tell that this soup was something special. It was not just because I was exhausted and famished that it tasted so good. There was just something amazing about it.

I learned later that the soup at the Coffee Creek checkpoint is legendary. Some paddlers even bring an empty thermos with them just so they can take some with them on the next leg of the race. It just seems to have restorative and rejuvenating properties. So yes, I can easily believe that a certain chicken soup recipe could have uplifting abilities.George Truehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17352709031834067303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557458849091969678.post-70570607330853198082020-09-30T16:47:46.130-04:002020-09-30T16:47:46.130-04:00I used to whip up batches of my End-of-the-World H...I used to whip up batches of my End-of-the-World Holy Guacamole.
