It's beautifully written, has a happy ending, a great mix of "science" and Christian mythology.

What's not to like?pdwalkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05943525787137905313noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557458849091969678.post-58310233176859014922015-09-29T23:49:03.213-04:002015-09-29T23:49:03.213-04:00Cool story.

They, too, are given the task of shepherding the souls of the dead to their final destination, though the Reapers are unable to describe it to their charges.

Also, souls who are unable or unwilling to make the journey due to strong attachment to the world of the living eventually go insane and become spirits haunting the living. The worst become violent, psychotic poltergeists with no other urge than to inflict misery on the living.

Terry Pratchett's "Death" character once took a holiday, which caused quite a bit of disruption in the world because nothing could die.

This is a topic that has been explored in a number of different ways (e.g. the Torchwood series "Miracle Day"). Yours is quite well done. In that novel, Death's function is to personally collect the souls of those who die "in balance" between good and evil, and properly classify them for transport to Heaven or Hell. But, when he "goes on strike" by refusing to take the soul of someone Satan wants dead, no one can fully "die." The new Death in that novel displays a great deal of compassion, much like Uriel does here.Erbohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07805469070199736156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557458849091969678.post-34878414074191670722015-09-29T12:23:41.930-04:002015-09-29T12:23:41.930-04:00You're too kind, Weet.
