It amazes me that people who do not want to develop, to grow, to be fully human nevertheless somehow think they are still entitled to sound government and a decent life, let alone that they'll actually get it. But I suppose that isn't exactly how they see things...

I think that maybe people need to start asking themselves whether all these so-called 'side effects' of 'programs' like welfarism are actually side effects. Maybe they aren't; maybe they are actually the point.

Maybe people want to be stunted, to live narrow, one-dimensional lives. Maybe they don't want to be fully human. They certainly don't want to think, or to take hard questions seriously.

What to do about it? Well, I know what I'm doing about it -- 1) having kids, and 2) raising them well. I'm not sure that there is much more that can be done. As you say, arguing rationally certainly doesn't seem to work. And politics is surely a waste of time.

Yet that's not the answer most people want to hear, probably because it entails much more of a commitment than they'd like to make. They'd rather just vote once every couple of years, and turn their kids over to the state they claim to hate.

What's the definition of insanity again? Doing the same thing over and over and complaining about the result? If that's the measure, almost everyone on both the left and the right certainly do appear to be insane.Scotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12915297057336831151noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557458849091969678.post-12117558681224432112013-01-09T04:32:42.300-05:002013-01-09T04:32:42.300-05:00The concept of a "rational gun policy" i...The concept of a "rational gun policy" is ludicrous. To even broach the subject imply's that the government has a duty, power and authority to restrict, control or limit the exercise of said right. That is a LIE. The government has absolutely NO power, right or authority to address in ANY fashion what type
(s) of arms I choose to purchase, own, possess or carry. A right is total, it is absolute and it is not negotiable. All that governments can do is to violate the rights of humans....and in doing so they justify the violent response of humans to that violation.

When gu grabbers implore us to "be reasonable" to sek "compromise" they are attempting to fool people into accepting the false premise that government has the power and authority to regulate and control weapons...the only debate being about how much, what kind, to what extent. This is the lie they try to trap people into falling for. Compromise, debate, negotiations are pointless and ridiculous. It's akin to falling for the lunacy of debating how much money a citizen should be required to relinquish to a thief when the correct response is not to negotiate bit to KILL the thief. It's time to stop playing their game and losing EVERY time. No negotiating, no compromise, no mercy. The liberal progtards need to learn a painful lesson.....infringe on our rights and suffer the consequences....as inwe kill them in defense of those rights. No other actions can occur as one does not negotiate away rights....one kills to defend those rights.Dannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557458849091969678.post-87951674673487664842013-01-08T14:11:39.443-05:002013-01-08T14:11:39.443-05:00"Nobody would reasonably argue that it meant ..."Nobody would reasonably argue that it meant for the government to supply weapons to those without access to them..."

I stopped right there. If the 5th Amendment means the police have to find you a free lawyer if you can't afford one, then the 2nd means they have to issue you a sidearm under similar circumstances.

Of course, I'm all kinds of unreasonable when it comes to RKBA. I'd be glad to settle for a truly liberal reading of 2A-- and summary hanging for any public official who dared attempt to interfere.ExGeeEyenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557458849091969678.post-12961068984459865762013-01-08T14:02:21.741-05:002013-01-08T14:02:21.741-05:00Rational arguments don't work with the Left. I...Rational arguments don't work with the Left. Indeed, they don't even work with much of the Right anymore. People today have been educated and brought up by an education system designed to indoctrinate. They have been taught to "feel" what is right instead of how to reason for themselves. The culture of the participation trophy reigns supreme. God forbid we actually prepare people for life anymore. The result is that Gun Control "feels good" because it gets rid of the "scary stuff." We really are dealing with an increasingly infantile society which not only cannot use a gun sensibly, but one in which they are afraid to even try to learn how to. So they prefer demonizing the "scary" gun owners instead.

This is a serious problem. I don't want gun control, nor do I wish to cede my constitutional right to the government. Yet at the same time... I would never let these irrational, indoctrinated people anywhere near my own weapons. I don't trust their sanity. I don't trust them not to use a gun emotionally instead of rationally. And that, I suspect, is one of the fundamental reasons why we have these mass shootings in the first place. These are infants, throwing temper tantrums on a much larger scale.

What do we do about it? I haven't a clue. Gun control isn't the answer though. Even if it were a rational policy, which it isn't, the government is increasingly run by the very same infants.Xealotnoreply@blogger.com
