I'm about 98% finished with my sci-fi novel, and I'm thinking about actually trying to publish it ...in paper. So I'll probably get frustrated with that and it will sit on the shelf with the others ones. It's a good book, too ...seems a shame. Have a pleasant week, Francis.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07795222563523474963noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557458849091969678.post-60767952818888333982017-04-02T15:06:20.547-04:002017-04-02T15:06:20.547-04:00Mr. Porretto, I enjoyed this rant. I was a nurse in a busy metro hospital and have seen all and heard all and came to the conclusion that it was all salad. close friends sometimes wonder why I can be alone and not see anyone for days and weeks, they're totally mystified. I am not an introvert by any means or definition. My counsel and interest don't align much with them the other people... Bye-bye." Because lying is wrong.

Obama lied about Iran, the Patient Affordable Care Act and so many things. Hillary lied about her email server.

*They lied.*

When you have people you want to believe - and who express opinions and ideals in which you want to invest - lying to you, isn't it reasonable that you'd begin to doubt what you think you "know?"

But we have a FEW media and commentators covering up or misdirecting from that obvious fact.

So, at least politically, I think a lot of "most people" aren't even that sure of what they think they know. What they do is "believe."Tim Turnernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557458849091969678.post-53981621408842510082017-04-01T12:03:01.507-04:002017-04-01T12:03:01.507-04:00Dear Fran;
I'm not sure about this one. I mig...Dear Fran;

I'm not sure about this one. I might agree with it in general, but as I read what you said, I thought:

I don't know most people. I watch and read MSNBC, PJMedia, Bill Whittle, Jewish World Review and other outlets. They may be read or watched by SOME people, but the views expressed are only those of SOME people.

I live in California. So it's easy to imagine that MOST people here are either stark, raving mad or illegal aliens. But I actually know very VERY few of them.

I actually talk to very few people. I don't get the comments and feedback that you do. But, even so, . . . 330 million people? I think almost none of us know very many people, not to mention most people.

But, here's the thing. As I read what what you said, my first instinct was to agree, at least insofar as, "Most people think they know something they think you don't."

But, actually, upon reflection, I don't think that's true.

Whereas in my Grandparent's time, and even my (WWII era) parent's, people lived through their travails without constant commentary and public reflection - thus giving them time to internalize life-lessons - people are now faced with so much hype and "alternate" views.

Thus, I think many - if not "most" - people don't even know quite what to think, much less what *they* think. With TV, the internet cell phones and media/advertising/movies ALL having social and political messaging, and with church, families and schools having such a diminished voice in speaking to peoples' inner mind, I think "most people" are just mimicking the memes of their time without any true belief or passion.

I think a lot of us pursue media, food and sex to extremes because we aren't getting what "most people believe" - read: "societal norms to believe in."

Lots more to say, but that's the gist.

Tim Turnernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557458849091969678.post-69646431377136710572017-04-01T11:47:19.939-04:002017-04-01T11:47:19.939-04:00And, this is why so many passionate people are on ...And, this is why so many passionate people are on the web, exploding with the relief of FINALLY being able to say, write, photograph, etc. - what they want, without censorship - not by government, but by those people who want everyone to conform.

Those people were happy - THRILLED - at their school experiences, as it was an opportunity to be surrounded by others who all agreed with their conventional point of view. And, where there were time-honored ways to punish the dissenters - ridicule, isolation, threats.

It's worse, now, than it was 'back in the day' - as older Southerners like to say.

Conformity RULES!Linda Foxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15024201252345608291noreply@blogger.com
