I begin to think the hour is upon us...that it's now or never for America as a free society.
It's generally well known that firearms registration is merely a preparatory measure, to enable the State to confiscate firearms from civilians' hands. Indeed, a moment's thought is all that's required to reach that conclusion, as registration has no application to the prevention of crime or the pursuit and conviction of criminals. Yet in the wake of the Sandy Hook atrocity, Dianne Feinstein is screaming for a national gun registry. Andrew Cuomo wants to compel the registration of essentially all semiautomatic rifles. (Indeed, at one point he threatened to confiscate them.) Similar measures have been proposed in both houses of Congress and are getting vocal support from the White House.
Agendas? Several. But none of them pertain to the prevention or deterrence of crimes such as Sandy Hook.
There is not one example in all of history in which a people who have allowed the State to take their weapons from them have remained at all free. Perhaps that's not as well known as it should be. But:
- An Arkansas mayor has dispatched SWAT-type armed patrols onto the streets of his town, with orders to interrogate peaceable citizens about why they're out and about.
- Government-run schools are trying to brainwash our minor children that "guns are violent."
- San Diego's police chief wants Americans completely disarmed, and says it's achievable "within a generation."
- the Department of Homeland Security wants to purchase 7,000 AR-15s with 30-round magazines...for "personal defense."
- and firearms and ammunition of all sorts are selling so rapidly that manufacturers can't keep up with the demand.
...it would appear that enough Americans know it. Perhaps.
Hearken to Bob Owens about the gun shop he most recently visited:
There were no less than six clerks working feverishly with the dozen or so customers, so I simply stepped to the side and walked the aisles. The cases of ammunition that typically lined the far wall were picked to pieces. There was a 100-round case of .50 BMG, and cases of European shotshells suitable for small game. The .223 Remington, 5.56 NATO, 7.62×39, 7.62 NATO, and 7.62x54R had sold out long ago, along with the bulk 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP....They didn’t know when they’d be getting anything back in stock, from magazines to rifles to pistols. Manufacturers were running full-bore, but couldn’t come close to keeping up with market demand. It wasn’t just the AR-15s, the AK-pattern rifles, the M1As, and the FALs that were sold out. It really hit me when I realized that the World War-era M1 Garands , M1 carbines, and Enfield .303s were gone, along with every last shell. Ubiquitous Mosin-Nagants—of which every gun store always seems to have 10-20—were gone. So was their ammo. Only a dust free space marked their passing. I’ve never seen anything like it.
Every weapon of military utility designed within the past 100+ years was gone. This isn’t a society stocking up on certain guns because they fear they may be banned. This is a society preparing for war.
Indeed it is.
The citations above are the sort one would expect to read just before "the balloon goes up." That is, when overt resistance to the myrmidons of the State has been prepared and threatened but not yet actuated. But here in New York state, things are already coming to a boil:
After Democrats in New York rammed a sweeping assault on the right to keep and bear arms through the legislature that failed to exempt police officers from the draconian restrictions, gun owners and even some lawmakers are planning what has been dubbed potentially the largest act of civil disobedience in state history. According to news reports, gun rights activists are urging everyone to defy far-left Governor Andrew Cuomo’s new registration mandate while daring authorities to “come and take it.”Analysts say the legislation, passed in a frenzy last week in the wake of the Newtown shooting, represents the most brazen infringement on the right to keep and bear arms anywhere in the nation. Among other points, the so-called SAFE Act seeks to limit magazines to just seven bullets, require virtually all of the estimated one million semi-automatic rifles in the state to be registered with authorities, mandate reporting of patients who express indications that they may have thoughts about hurting themselves or others by doctors, and more....
Preparations are already being made for mass resistance. “I’ve heard from hundreds of people that they’re prepared to defy the law, and that number will be magnified by the thousands, by the tens of thousands, when the registration deadline comes,” said President Brian Olesen with American Shooters Supply, among the biggest gun dealers in the state, in an interview with the New York Post.
If New York "authorities" have decided to shrug off such statements, and the objective evidence of their sincerity, they're in for a very unpleasant surprise.
Si pacem vis, para bellum, as the Romans said -- and despite our "progressive" reputation, the people of New York are uncommonly well prepared.
In an absolute sense, vanishingly few people "want war." Vanishingly few people actually seek to incite or take part in mass lethal violence. Even the most ardent soldier, who claims always to want to be "where the action is," is unlikely to relish hot-lead combat for its own sake; he's far more likely to prefer action, and the sense that he's doing the job he's been trained for, to the tedium of the barracks.
But few of our preferences are appropriately judged acontextually. Certain desserts, Harvey's Bristol Cream, and the pleasures of the flesh excepted, we don't value things apart from the context in which we must find them. That is, we prefer this to that, where either this or that will be forced upon us. In this recognition lies the great danger to which the would-be gun-controllers have subjected America:
We love peace, but not peace at any price. There is a peace more destructive of the manhood of living man, than war is destructive to his body. Chains are worse than bayonets. -- Douglas Jerrold
The rising has begun. It may seem furtive, even bashful, if you aren't attuned to what America's patriots have been saying to one another. But it has begun.
Pray that it won't need to go any further than a show of force.
A show of force will not be enough, with the sum of the conditions as they are, and with the propensity of some elected officials to determine that they know better than we how we should conduct our lives.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, the balloon has gone up. Millions of liberty-loving citizens are soon to fall into the "legal" definition of "terrorists".
ReplyDelete"ἀνερρίφθω κύβος", anerríphthō kȳbos, "let the die be cast"
I agree with Grog. A "show of force" will simply allow the would be masters an insightful view of their opposition. They'll back up, re-calibrate their long plan, and do something even more insidious, unseen. Sometihng that might actually work for them. I believe this very thing happened a few short days ago, with the fabled Executive Orders. They were making a mistake and like idiots we interuppted them!
ReplyDeleteUntil the enemy is crushed, physically, morally, spiritually, they are still a threat. You only have to look at the last war we decisively won to see the recipe for success. Germany and Japan cities looked like pool hall ashtrays. The temples, theories and people of the progressives must be placed into the very same state. Our goal should be Finality, Scipio salting the ploughed ruins of Carthage.
Reasonable people got us into this damn mess. Milquetoast, limp wrist effeminate "compromisers" who nickel and dimed our freedoms away on the pagan alters of feelings and self-worth. This must all be swept away, denounced, studied and mocked, so that the lesson will carry for generations.
Branch Davidians made "a show of force" when threatened, and allowed Fed's to withdraw. Fed's returned with military equipment and overwhelming force.
ReplyDeleteThere's the lesson: When they start something, you HAVE to finish it, before re-enforcements arrive.
For the OpFor, the lesson must be "Don't start nuthin', won't be nuthin'".
Passing laws that are widely ignored and blatant unenforcement (by smart, selective-vision police) in the face of display leads to contempt for the law and the men who passed the corrupt law.
Very well put LFMayor. There can be no accepting compromise. It is them who must now compromise. They have stepped on a mine with their pursuit of this gun ban. They know it now but want to get off easily.
ReplyDeleteThere can only be one way off that mine for them now; the hard way.
In the Demokratik People's Republik of Kalifornia, the powers that be got 27,000 registrations out of an estimated 500,000 to 1 million so-called "assault weapons" believed to be within the state.
ReplyDeleteI am reasonably sure the rest didn't just vanish.
Until now we have "trusted" our elected officials with managing our affairs relative to the Nation's business. Now we have awakened to the fact that our elected officials are working against us and for themselves and for an evil ideology.
ReplyDeleteThey have "given" themselves the right to overtly infringe on our Rights and blatantly attack the Amendments guaranteeing our Rights, without our overt permission.
They have taken control of too much that belongs to individual states and have been violating our personal Rights blatantly and incessantly.
Now is the time "for all good men to come to the aid of their Country"!
Now is the time to say:"Enough".
Now is the time to take back what is ours and has been stolen from us.
Now is the time for States to assert their superiority over the Federal Government.
Now is the time for States to secede if Washington will not stop its abuse of Office.
Now is the time to resist by becoming active in the quest to free America from the traitors to the Constitution.
Now is the time to stand up for America!
Now is the time to unite!
Now is the time to disobey!
Excellent article!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree that the "Arms Race" between American patriots and the Obama Regime is clear indication that both sides expect civil war to break out in the near future.
A recent incident here in Seattle serves to illustrate how desperate patriots are in finding firearms -
The SPD announced a in a newspaper article a "gun buy back day" under the I-5 near downtown. This event became a gun show in no time, as people in cars with wads of dollar bills in their hands, purchased firearms from people with guns to sell to the police.
The question is no longer, "Will there be a civil war."
The question has become, thanks to Obama, who pushing all the buttons necessary to start civil war, is when and where will the conflict start?
Might I recommend a gander at this survivalblog post? A specific course of action is encouraged that would certainly discourage TTTB (The Tyrants That Be).

@LFMayor,
ReplyDeleteI take it you subscribe to the theory that the White House had a very different set of pronouncements planned, but changed at the last minute. I am not sure what to believe. It does seem like the Run on Guns and the public outcry could have ruined their plans for a frontal assault, leading to the envelopment we now observe. On the other hand, maybe the "frontal assault" some were expecting was the diversion and the flanking movements were the real plan all along.
It appears that New Yorkers are either not serious or are not paying attention.
ReplyDeleteThere was just an American Hero Veteran arrested today for possession of 30 round mags.
Where are the demonstrations? Where is the outrage? Where is the ACTION?
NY, whether you like it or not you are the present day Lexington Green.
We're watching you to see if your serious or if we will have to stand without you.
"Stand your ground. Don't fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war let it begin here."
ReplyDeleteI'm sure every patriot is familiar with that quote.
@KG:
ReplyDeleteIn 2006 I predicted civil war based on the intense hatred the Left had for their fellow Americans in the loyal opposition:
http://ronbosoldier.blogspot.com/2005/11/new-american-civil-war_09.html
This soon-to-be Second U.S. Civil War has roots that go back to the 1960s - and it is clear that Obama was selected by the Left as the dictator they needed to start the shooting battles.
But war of any type, is a "funny" thing - I would compare it to a forest fire: easy to start, but difficult, and sometimes impossible to contain and put out, an inferno that sometimes burns to death whose who started the blaze when the wind shifts.
So the Left may get their civil war, it look to be on the fast track in 2013.
However, the Leftists may not like the outcome.
What was that quote from Emerson: If you strike at the king, you must kill him?
ReplyDeleteThey can pass laws requiring registration or requiring me to surrender my arms or any high capacity magazines if they want to do so, but I will not comply. I have served my nation and my community faithfully and well and I have always observed the law. But I will not observe registration and confiscation laws. I will not willingly become a slave to tyranny.
ReplyDeleteMy family has fought in every war this nation ever had from the Revolution to present. Generations of my family have served in law enforcement and that is a fact that I take great pride in. Some of my family have even served in public office. I was raised to believe in America and our traditional values. I was taught to honor the founding fathers and to work for the good of my neighbors.
But there is no way in hell that I will allow the yoke of servitude to be placed about my neck. They can brand me a criminal, they can imprison me, but they cannot break my will nor can they threaten me out of my position. But when a citizen begins to fear his government, that is a clear sign that something is very wrong with the system.
Our nation has lived through a civil war once before. In my family, brother did slay brother and I fear that the same sentiments that were circulating during the Antebellum period are circulating now. Let us pray that clear heads and reasonable politicians prevail lest we travel that dark path once more and shed tears that Americans have not wept in 150 years.
Great comment William, as always.
ReplyDeleteThis is the nub of the matter:
"But when a citizen begins to fear his government, that is a clear sign that something is very wrong with the system."
Indeed. And that must end, at whatever cost.
Anonmymous, there will be many arrests like the one in NY before resistance builds to the shooting point. Shooting will be no small thing, nobody wants to be the shot that starts the war. So the arrests and takedowns will build to a crescendo, so much the gov't will briefly think they've won. Then it will come, out of the blue, just when it seems that the Resistance has been out-manouvered by the corrupt effete Washington tyrants.
