"Keep clear of the dupes that talk democracy,
And the dogs that bark revolution.
Drunk with talk, liars and believers.
I believe in my tusks. Long live freedom and damn the ideologies!"
(Robinson Jeffers)
To be (as usual) a cynical wise-ass, sure they do:
"Our rights have been compromised."
• bring into disrepute or danger by indiscreet, foolish, or reckless behavior: e.g. situations in which his troops could be compromised.
We have been foolish and reckless in allowing compromise. This is why GOA - which refuses compromise - is so very superior to NRA - which has been compromising our rights since 1934. They have helped write every major piece of legislation which has whittled our gun rights away to what little remains today.
For those of you who have not seen this video, it is well worth the 57 odd minutes of your time:
Innocents Betrayed - The History of Gun Control
The first 45 minutes or so recount the gun control measures taken by various governments over roughly the last 100 years and the consequences. The last 12 minutes are interviews with the film's producers who candidly lay out the arguments for the film.
This video can be freely viewed on one the popular video servers on the web. I believe it can also be purchased from their official web site. IMO, every library in America should have a copy of this it.
Clever, but would be more to the point if, in the second panel, instead of asking "what I get out of this compromise", Mr. Gun-Rights-Cake had said "Why should I give you ANY of it?" The next panel would necessarily show a decidedly uncute, non puppy-faced goon with a . . . gun . . . standing next to Ms. Anime-Eyes.
