"Keep clear of the dupes that talk democracy,
And the dogs that bark revolution.
Drunk with talk, liars and believers.
I believe in my tusks. Long live freedom and damn the ideologies!"

Not Feeling Well
Your pardons, Gentle Readers. I’m feeling very unwell and must take the day off from Liberty’s Torch. Tune in again tomorrow. Until then, be well.
In truth, BlogDog, I do feel an obligation to produce something daily for Liberty's Torch. I don't have many regular readers -- my estimate is about 300 -- but they're an unusually bright and loyal bunch, and I dislike the feeling that I'm letting them down. So I strive to keep at it.
Before I retired, I would get up especially early, so I'd have time enough to plan out something before I had to leave for work. When I proved unequal to the task, I could excuse myself on the basis of time pressure and other commitments. These days I have much more time and essentially no external commitments, which greatly intensifies the sense of obligation.
At base, it's mainly this: I have a pair of gifts. One is for seeing patterns others don't see. The second is for unearthing the causal chains that produced the patterns and articulating them for others' consideration. And gifts are meant to be put to work. This is one of the ways I do that; the other, of course, is through fiction.
Perhaps I take it all too seriously, but as has been said by many others in similarly challenging circumstances: Hey, that's just me.
Well, more power to you for providing blogfodder. I used to blog at Pugs of War but I reached a point where health considerations laid me low and I was never able to get back to it. I try to stop in here at least 3x a week and appreciate your heavy lifting. That and $5 will get you a Starbucks coffee....
Comments are moderated. I am entirely arbitrary about what I allow to appear here. Toss me a bomb and I might just toss it back with interest. You have been warned.

ReplyDeleteI hope you don't feel *obliged* to post every day! Feel better soon. We'll wait here.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon, and we hope it's nothing serious.
