I am 68. My Mother is 92. My Father lived til 93. I am very thankful that they were able to live out their lives without fear of poverty. I will not be able to. Though I have been working since seventh grade, I missed out on the pensions. Laid off for the last time at 62, I now look at the end of my life with great fear. The globalization of the economy sent my work to India. I don't begrudge them a growing middle class but I am no longer in one here. Their gains are my loss and I am very afraid. I am not a Trump supporter but I know the depths of anxiety he is appealing to.[1]In short, she doesn't begrudge them her own job.
This woman is struggling to be reasonable and to appreciate the needs of the foreigners who have replaced her. Of all the presidential candidates out there, Trump is the only one who has articulated a desire to protect people like her from foreign competition. Yet, she cannot bring herself to support him.
Eight years under an affirmative-action community organizer who hates America and produced, reluctantly, a forged birth certificate is perhaps the definition of "normal" to her. Do other candidates appeal to her because they act like everything is normal still? Do sharp-edged truths unsettle her to such an extent that she will not grasp the only obvious lifeline?
She will sink further into marginal employment, a vastly reduced lifestyle, or penury while still being reasonable and understanding. Obviously, she's a decent soul but her decency will be the end of her. She actually does have non-negotiable interests in a vibrant American economy and is entitled to see Indians organize themselves to achieve the same for themselves. But she still cannot, or will not, see that.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, especially since the term "cuckservative" got thrown around on Twitter frequently.
ReplyDeleteAmerican whites are actively working against their own interests. And they *know* this to be true. I suppose it wouldn't bother me so much if there were other places to go in the world that weren't this way. Then you and I could vote with our feet and choose multiculturalist diversity, or monocultural sameness, according to our own desires and priorities.
But every Western country is going this way. So there is no choice.
The old lady you speak of MUST lose her job and be replaced by cheaper foreign labor. And to speak against it would be racism, the greatest taboo in the West. She must descend into poverty, so that someone else might be lifted out of it. The Left has turned this into a zero-sum game.
She doesn't even know how to speak out against it. Most people don't. They don't really understand what is happening to them, or why. And their brains shutoff as soon as the racism accusation is tossed into the fray -- they've been trained, Pavlov-style, to disregard such thoughts as wrongthink.
Nonetheless, the unease remains under the surface. And I think that's what drives Trump's popularity.
This worries me, because it's like a pressure cooker for violence and fascism. I used to wonder how it was that the Germans could allow the Nazis to obtain power, to cheer Hitler's rise, and to look the other way as Jews were exterminated.
Now I understand. Economic damage + social repression can lead to a corresponding extreme backlash, the snapping of an ideological rubber band, wherein people blind themselves to horrors that, otherwise, would trigger visceral opposition.
Someday people will wake up. The lid will come off the pressure cooker. Maybe not this woman, but others. And they will be angry. They will feel betrayed, that their country was stolen from them. And they will do things that would horrify any freedom-loving American.
The unfortunate truth is, the America you and I love will be long-gone by then, as fascism and communism once again jockey for dominance in the political sphere. Tyranny vs. tyranny.
If God is merciful, the old lady won't live to see that day. You and I, on the other hand, will most likely not be so fortunate.
Whites seem pathologically passive in the face of insult and submersion. Today I read that some Hispanics are pledging to rise up as one and vote against Trump. It beggars the imagination to think that whites would take offense at that and vote as a bloc. What a ridiculous idea.
ReplyDeleteStill, that woman is distressed and, I suspect, there is greater anger inside than you can infer from her placid words about how everyone is entitled to their place in the sun. She even knows explicitly that it's at her expense but remains "reasonable."
I believe that the ultimate nature of the National Socialists was not visible to the German voters in 1932 and before. What they did see was communist thugs battling brown shirt thugs in the streets and the choice was much more along the lines of tweedle dum v. tweedle dee. Moreover, the nature of the Bolsheviks, the true horror wrought by them and their aggressive, subversive intentions outside of the USSR, was known. Hungary, Austria, and Germany had experienced attempted communist putsches so it's not surprising that voters favored Hitler, who appeared to be aligned with the old regime. Sorry for historical errors in any of this.
Nonetheless, it's true that even undemocratic polities (e.g., the E.U.) cannot for long ignore the interests of their people. Legitimate popular interests will manifest themselves in a healthy populism or an unhealthy nihilism if not respected by oligarchs or autocrats.
After decades of indoctrination with the "propositional nation" and "diversity is our strength" bullshit it just may be that whites in the Western world are finally realizing they have a dog in this fight they've been trying so hard to ignore.
