“Ignorance is strength” said the Party slogan in Nineteen Eighty-Four. For sure, in the Western world of 2015, knowledge will get you into trouble. Whether or not ignorance is strength, in the Western world today, ignorance is definitely social acceptance. Do Americans of all people really not know—that nations with big racial minorities are arenas of discord, social friction, group rancor, and perpetual conflict? How did we get so stupid?"The Case of Oliver Letwin." Brits Apologize on the Beaches, and on the Landing Grounds, and in the Fields…WHY? By John Derbyshire, Vdare, 1/1/16.It’s not just us, of course. All the old Anglo-Saxon and northwest European countries have enstupidated themselves in the same way. Look at Germany. Look at Britain.

On the road to Ignorance Is Strength we have this: http://dianeravitch.net/2015/10/15/california-cancels-exit-exams-offers-diplomas-to-students-who-failed-to-pass-tests-since-2006/
ReplyDelete- California has legislated a 100% HS graduation policy.
-- Progress you know.
- Huh?
-- The whole Prog movement is based on the assumption that human beings have been evolving into a higher and higher state, mooting concerns about "old" bad human nature.
Reading between the lines here: a 100% HS graduation proves them correct. VoilĂ !
Note:
ReplyDeleteMerriam-Webster says the full definition of "discriminate" is:
to mark or perceive the distinguishing or peculiar features of
and:
to distinguish by discerning or exposing differences; especially : to distinguish from another like object
But, now, their FIRST definition listed is the "simple" one:
to unfairly treat a person or group of people differently from other people or groups
And if you google "discriminate", the FIRST that shows up is:
make an unjust or prejudicial distinction in the treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, sex, or age.
So: the popular meme now is that discrimination (perception of differences) to "perceive distinguishing features" or "expose differences" is unfair, unjust and prejudicial.
And just in case you missed the memo, you're not allowed to think of race, sex or age.
Silly Rabbit. Race matters. Sex matters. Age matters. IQ matters. Rationality matters. Discrimination ("to mark or perceive the distinguishing or peculiar features") matters. Character matters.
If you're putting a house up for rent, if you're hiring an employee, if you're choosing an elected official, a friend, a lover or someone to chat with online, you discriminate BECAUSE IT MATTERS.
To go one step further, the entire idea of diversity and multiculturalism is to say that discrimination ("to mark or perceive the distinguishing or peculiar features") is not allowed.
We are not allowed to say that blacks' IQs are lower, Mexican immigrants may not share our values, Muslims support Sharia which is contrary to our country's principals, older people may be forgetful or unable to maintain property, women are different than men or the campus "diversity maven" may have a different agenda than imparting knowledge and critical-thinking to our nation's youth.
This is Political Correctness. You know this. It is lie.
Brits are sheep. They are "subjects", not citizens. They allow whatever government they currently have to lead them around by the nose. Where they once had balls - especially during WWII, long before we got directly involved - now they allow the grooming, rapes and gang-rapes, drugging, and prostitution of their own daughters and granddaughters, not just in Rotherham, but in towns and cities throughout Britain, anywhere that has allowed muslims from Pakistan, Chechnya, Northern Africa, etc.
ReplyDeleteMale Brits from every stratum of their society know it is happening, yet look the other way, because they fear being fined or jailed for violating "hate speech/hate crimes" which their police and their government punish in place of punishing the Paki (and other) rape gangs which have been torturing and terrorizing young British girls for over twenty years, by their own count.
Political correctness is a disease that has infected much of the world, and many people there - as well as here in America - are afraid to speak out against it. To do so in Britain, Canada, the Netherlands, etc., is to risk being arrested and imprisoned, yet some - like Geert Wilders and Mark Steyn - say what needs to be said in spite of attempts to silence them.
Most Brits don't have the conviction to stand up against such threats from their own government, where you can go to jail for merely quoting Churchill on islam. If they won't protect their children, they obviously won't fight for anything. Churchill must be vomiting in his grave.
Pascal, King Canute had nothing on them.
ReplyDeleteI must say I've read that Canute has been misrepresented, that he commanded the waves to prove that he wasn't omnipotent.
American politics loves form over substance. The Atlanta cheating scandal was the same thing. Put a bunch of numbers on a sheet full of test scores and, voila, they pass, yo. In the unlikely event any of those California "graduates" got into college somewhere, they'd be the ones sent over to remedial English and math. Then they'd complain about discrimination. You know I right.
Tim, truth is optional in America. What doesn't support the narrative goes to the trash.
ReplyDeleteReg, Tommy Robinson has written of his experiences in jail. He was put in with malevolent Muslims, one of whom was put up to throwing boiling water on him. Sugar was put in the water to make it stick to his skin he says. A friendly warder warned him and he was able fight back and avoid that fate. It has to be an inhibitor for even patriotic Brits who might be willing to risk jail to know that their own kind will throw them to the wolves. The senior warden and senior police officer in each jurisdiction need to be called out and shamed.
ReplyDeleteYour point is well taken, however. I know a very elderly British woman whom I can't get a rise out of on the immigration issue. She's lived in Africa and has no illusions about African culture but she will not say boo about immigration. It's not just age. She mentioned earlier that she was fearful of saying anything on the internet that could get her into trouble.
Britain, the Mother of Parliaments, has turned into a right proper fascist country it has.
