"Keep clear of the dupes that talk democracy,
And the dogs that bark revolution.
Drunk with talk, liars and believers.
I believe in my tusks. Long live freedom and damn the ideologies!"

Pearls of expression.
Marco Rubio is a young man with a great future behind him.
Mr. Kengor seems to be isolated from the reality of our problems with illegal immigrants. I'm amazed that people like him pay no heed to the numerous news articles from reputable sources as to the amount of crime brought on us by the illegals, or the net cost to the working taxpayers.
I have no problem with "the way it was" for legal immigration. Learn the language, learn the culture, work on assimilation. The system need not be unduly expensive nor lengthy to gain approval for the "probation period".
Why my attitude is seen as bad-nasty is beyond me. Seems irrational and illogical.
Andy, I can't figure Kengor. He wrote Dupes which showed him to be a good analyst and observer. This whole xenophilia force that seems to have taken over the brains of millions of people in the West is dismaying to me. I love to study foreign languages and travel but I don't think I have rights in countries to which I travel and I don't think the people I meet would be cool to have as neighbors at home in overwhelming numbers.
Desertrat, the Greeks had it right with the "everything in moderation" idea. I suppose not every Greek thought that, perhaps, but the idea has come down. A tiny leavening of immigration is great; tidal waves of foreigners aren't. Why a nation of over 300M people, 5/6 of whom are not immigrants needs immigrant engineers or lawn maintenance guys to save us I'll never understand.
Comments are moderated. I am entirely arbitrary about what I allow to appear here. Toss me a bomb and I might just toss it back with interest. You have been warned.

To (badly) paraphrase Robert Duvall in Apocalypse Now, I love the smell of desperate oligarchs (and their sycophants like Paul Kengor) in the evening.
