For the neocons, it’s always 1938. The enemy is always the reincarnation of Hitler, and anyone who questions the wisdom of war is denounced as an “appeaser” in the fashion of Neville Chamberlain or Lindbergh. Yet no one ever examines and challenges the assumption behind this rhetorical trope, which is that war with the enemy of the moment – whether it be Saddam Hussein, the Iranian ayatollahs, or Vladimir Putin – is inevitable and imminent.[1]And of immense benefit to the people in the war zone and to the people of [name of Western country].

It strikes me this is the argument Antifa makes. Everyone they disagree with is the next Hitler. For example, see their propaganda poster on Western Rifle Shooters Association.
ReplyDeleteIf patriotism is (inaccurately) said to be the last refuge of scoundrels, anti-fascism or anti-Nazi hysteria is the first stop for morons and vicious bastards.
ReplyDeleteSJWs mewl about the "far right" but can't see the replay of the Brown Shirts right in front of their eyes. As in Germany and Sweden, the U.S. government uses AntiFa thugs as unacknowledged auxiliaries. I'd like to think Trump would go after them but he hasn't. He hasn't even mentioned them, even though his campaign was directly affected. It's the usual maddening blindness on his part. He doesn't seem to grasp the significance of events that and people who are pure poison.
