"Keep clear of the dupes that talk democracy,
And the dogs that bark revolution.
Drunk with talk, liars and believers.
I believe in my tusks. Long live freedom and damn the ideologies!"
(Robinson Jeffers)
I did take a day off to see the totality - NO comparison from 'almost' to 'total'. I've been told that, from 99% to 100% is 1000 X darker. I believe it.
Awesome day. I'm preparing my packing list (based on the things we didn't anticipate) for the next one, April 8, 2024, in Cleveland, OH. It's a good excuse to visit the family.
I did the toothpick-through-right-wing-magazine-cover deal here in 90%-occlusion territory. Actually, more than adequate. It was a bit spooky to see everything turn darker and grayer. I learned to use my time-lapse feature on the new camera which is pretty cool.
I was surprised how the apparent intensity of the sun didn't change that much for the naked eye.
I'm happy with the internet live feeds. But I do have relatives in the Cleveland area myself so maybe I can use the eclipse as an excuse to go visit.
