Nice Place You Have Here. Thanks for Inviting Me to the Party.

I've been a long-time reader of Fran's work - both on this blog, and his novels. Naturally, I was excited to be asked to join the group that blogs on Liberty's Torch.

I've blogged since about 2004 (the exact date is lost to my fading memory). Initially, I joined another blogger at Right We Are! - a defunct blog that provided me entry into the blogging world. To see my very first post - link here.

My interests are politics, culture, and reflections/commentary from my Catholic perspective. I currently blog at:
I'm in the process of revising my first novel, and HOPE to have it finished by the time Nov. 1 rolls around again (I'm a NaNoWriMo success story - 50k words in a month. It really kickstarted my idea of writing professionally, and was the push I needed to plan my retirement). I've also starting making queries about other writing projects, and hope to generate a small income from freelance assignments in the future.

I'm an amateur radio operator (Ham Radio), and will be building my CW Trainer kit this week - that's Morse Code for most of you. My goal is to reach at least a minimal level of competency by Winter Field Day - the last full weekend in January. I've set up a workbench in the attic (sucky during the summer months - I'm putting air conditioning on the high priority list of needs), and will post pictures sometime in the next few months.

Total Information War, by the ZMan - Yes, I think it can be said that we, the Deplorables, need to prepare for a LONG slog through this last gasp of Leftism. For me, the development of Ham Radio skills is just in case we get caught with no other means to communicate.

BTW - did you know that radio can move information that is digital, text, and video? AND get you Internet?

  2. Looking forward to your posts. I rarely comment but Fran is one of my favorite voices-in-the-wilderness. I inherited from my mother an insatiable reader's ear for great writing and his blog never disappoints.

Ham radio operation sounds like a valuable skill to acquire. I've come to the conclusion that we can no longer overstate the seriousness of the coming censorship efforts that will transpire. (An old joke from a former Army Intelligence Officer: "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean their not out to get you").

However ridiculous it may sound to some, censorship is coming and I have determined that I will be amongst the Faithful Remnant that helps distributes the truth in the dark days ahead. Even if that means becoming a pamphleteer with a mimeograph. The sudden mass hysteria over the Confederate statues shows just how fast things could suddenly unravel for people with Unapproved Thoughts. Godspeed to all of us.

  3. There was a marvelous post by Connie du Toit, about the Remnant. I've lost the link and haven't been able to find it in any archive.

It has to do with writing because of the future. That the Remnant passes along the knowledge for those who will follow us.

Ham is the bomb! My club is planning on setting up an ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) chapter. During times like national disasters or local civil uprisings, it can be a lifeline for access to emergency services, connections to other parts of the country or world, and invaluable for passing along news. Go to http://arrl.org to find out more.
