As The Daily Caller's Henry Rodgers reports , Gov. Dannel Malloy, a Democrat, also said his state would “boycott” the NRA and said the organization has been acting like a “terrorist organization,” in an interview with Fox61.[1]Sloppy and dishonest use of language is grievous problem in our times, but it’s not exclusively a modern problem. Confucius talked about the right use of language. If you don’t call things by their right names you can’t make good policy and the nation suffers.
“If names be not correct, language is not in accordance with the truth of things. If language be not in accordance with the truth of things, affairs cannot be conducted successfully. When affairs cannot be conducted successfully, propriety will not flourish. When propriety does not flourish, punishments will not be properly meted out. When punishments are not properly meted out, the people will not know how to conduct themselves.”Some 800 years later this observation:
“All the heretics acknowledge that there is a true Scripture. Had they all falsely believed that none existed, some one might reply that such Scripture was unknown to them. But now that have themselves taken away the force of such plea, from the fact that they have mutilated the very Scriptures. For they have corrupted the sacred copies; and words which ought to have but one interpretation, they have wrested to strange significations.~ Ephraem (c. 306-373).[2]
And, now, Col. B. Bunny calls attention to the same problem. Is there no end to this man’s genius?

It's all part of the OTHERING of Conservatives.
ReplyDeleteWhether Nazi, racist, bigot, terrorist, or whatever, they are painting us as irredeemably evil. Just as their patron "saint" Alinsky taught them to.
Being evil, it becomes a moral good in their mind to rid the world of us. Just consider that situation with Jordan Peterson where they attempted to barricade him in a church and someone said "Burn it down!"
I would not have been surprised, had they had the means, they would have attempted to do so.
EVERY genocide, EVERY purge, has had the groundwork laid by portraying the other side NOT as human with legitimate, albeit different, viewpoints - but subhuman (sloped foreheaded knuckledraggers) and evil (see above).
We're heading for a deep abyss.
Yes indeed. One of the things that delight me in this Vale of Tears (VoT) is the little flourishes that other humans add to their daily lives. I heard an elderly gentleman say to a librarian in a small town in Iowa that he was pleased to meet her. "I've heard a lot about you," he said. "Most of it good." I've laughed at that bit of wit for years. Or there are people who deal with health or relationship issues who still keep on keeping on, doing their jobs. That's admirable. Attempting to reduce them to be "white racists" or "bigots" or being "privileged" just is the best way to miss out on life. The left is horribly misguided in its effort to distort motives.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for the day I can use a line from an issue of The Savage Sword of Conan.
ReplyDeleteThem: So you're ?
Me: Yes.
Them: I've heard a lot about you.
Me: Is it good or bad?
Them: If it's good?
Me: Then it's true.
Them: If it's bad?
Me: Then it's doubly true.
I was once in a conversation about illegal aliens, and someone said "You're a racist and anti-immigrant."
I took my phone off my belt. "Should I call my non-Caucasian first-generation immigrant wife for a second opinion?"
Great quote and riposte!
