Assad speaks.

This video is of an interview with Syrian president Bashar al-Assad from just over a year ago. He gives his analysis on why the charge that he launched a supposed chemical weapons attack on civilians in the town of Khan Sheikhoun is illogical.

He makes several compelling points that I commend to you for your consideration. Most of them are also relevant to the recent supposed Syrian government use of chlorine gas in Douma.

What I think is most important is to try to show a side of this man that simply cannot be seen on the major U.S. media. Any number of buffoons, zealots, and flak merchants appear hourly to make Mr. Assad out as someone barely above the level of an Al Sharpton or Hillary Clinton with a personal malignancy to be seen nowhere else on the planet.

A truer picture of this man must be presented to counter the lies and propaganda that sluice through our corrupt media.

Here’s the relevant question: Does this man seem like a decent, intelligent, educated man or does he strike you as the man he is portrayed as in our media?

  1. Colonel -

Very timely - inasmuch as I just posted two related pieces at my own site, and have been in a number of discussions on other sites.

I was on very good terms with an Antiochian Orthodox priest who has been to Syria numerous times for various Church functions and other tours and celebrations. Essentially he told me that virtually everything we in the west have heard about Syria is pure propaganda. He has met with Assad a number of times.

Dueling pipelines, and the neocons in the Pentagon, CIA/NSA Web will obliterate (or try to) ANYONE who gets in their way.

  2. Thanks, jb. Alas, I couldn't get to your site from your comment. I would have been most interested in your take on things. Looking at the above video it's hard to put it and the "animal Assad" (I kid you not), "Assad the butcher," and "brutal dictator" characterizations of him together. Eleven months ago, I posted a video of Alexander Shulgin, the Russian man at the OPCW, which similarly showed a decent man just trying to deal with facts. Lavrov and Putin project the same intelligence and integrity to me all in stark contrast, I'm dismayed to say, with the ravings of Nikki the Nemesis of the U.N. and Trump and his weak rhetoric, posturing, and distortion.

I have no doubt about what you say about the propaganda. It flows like cold molasses over everything and is a sure indicator of a real corruption of the soul. Trump was all in a tizzy about a thousand casualties but blind to the now 500,000+ deaths in Syria as a result of the war we have waged on Syria in a coalition of other fools. The Bible is clear on this phenomenon.

The saddest part of all is that Syria is EXACTLY the kind of Arab government a rational person would want in the M.E. but it is now and has been the target of a kind of corruption, dishonesty, and viciousness that challenges one's understanding.

  4. Thank you kindly for the link to your blog!

PS -- I ran across a very recent interview with Lavrov that I will post for the same reason I posted this look at Assad the man. Lavrov is amazing and confirms my assessment of the quality of the Russian leadership.
