There was a down-and-out woman, nicknamed "Sweet Brown", who escaped from a fire in her building in the middle of the night. She ran out without shoes, and when asked about it, said, "Ain't nobody got time for that".
Her words sparked a meme that spread widely.
Today, I saw a picture that showed her progress. She's overcome drug addiction, and looks healthy and ready to tackle life again.
I love these stories, about the resilience of human beings, their ability to claw themselves back from horrible circumstances, and showing that, yes, people can change - for the better.
God Bless you, Kimberly - I pray that your future is as bright as your face in this update.
That is a great story indeed.
ReplyDeleteI have decidedly harsh views on group behavior of minorities . . . and the majority. My views are not frequently heard at cocktail parties thrown by the beautiful people but there is always and forever that wonderful "get out of jail free" card available to any person on the planet. That is the card that says "awake and conquer the demons within." Any person can make the decision to become a lady or a gentleman and live with a decent respect for themselves and others. That looks like a beautiful woman utterly transformed.
