Liz Peek, who contends that the steadily deteriorating, scandal-ridden Joe Biden is an unacceptable presidential candidate the Democrats must somehow shove aside, thinks this is a real possibility:
[Hillary] Clinton is the only VP candidate who would be able to pull off such a last-minute switch. She has the team, the resources and the experience to be the nominee; Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), former Georgia state Rep. Stacey Abrams and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) do not.Clinton is ready and eager. She is desperate to avenge her 2016 loss (which she still blames on Putin) and has pumped up her public profile to keep herself in consideration. In past months she has conducted endless interviews, promoted the uber-flattering four-part Hulu film about herself, made headlines by attacking Bernie Sanders and Mark Zuckerberg, and fired unending broadsides against President Trump.
Say what?
Hillary is hideously polarizing, but she would be a more forceful nominee than Biden, has enormous name recognition and, perhaps most important, can begin and end a sentence without major detours. And, she has not been credibly accused of sexual assault.
But Hillary has been deeply and screechily involved in defending her husband against well-substantiated allegations of sexual assault and sexual misbehavior. Gennifer Flowers. Paula Jones. Kathleen Willey. Juanita Broaderick. And of course, Monica Lewinsky. Is that the sort of candidate the Democrats want to replace the unacceptable Joe Biden?
Add to this that Hillary’s health is suspect. The collapses, the seeming uncontrollable tics that approached convulsions, and the frequent protracted coughing were memorable indications that she’s not equal to the burdens of high office…if, considering her volcanic, uncontrolled temper, she ever was.
More, Hillary is a two-time loser: once against Barack Obama, once against Donald Trump. The Democrats have not renominated a loser since 1956. That year, Adlai Stevenson was the only Democrat willing to run against the tremendously popular President Dwight Eisenhower. She’d be as much a sacrificial lamb as Walter Mondale was in 1984, so why not stick with Biden?
Hillary is also incapable of coping with her own past, including such tidbits as the private email server, the scandals over her Haiti “charity,” and the outrageous Russian payments to her and her husband after the Uranium One deal. Worse, she’s spent the greater part of the past three and a half years explaining how her 2016 defeat was “not my fault” – and those efforts have not endeared her to the Democrats’ kingmakers.
If I were a betting man, I’d put a bunch on the Biden replacement being anyone but Hillary Clinton.
IMHO of course...
ReplyDeleteBiden would - we all believe, I think - go down in flames. If he does, and the lack of downticket coattails keeps the Senate "R" (and hopefully flips the House back), the shifting of the courts rightward would continue.
More to the point, if the Notorious RBG kicks off (if she hasn't already and that's just being hidden), SCOTUS would move Rightward for a generation or more. That can't be permitted.
Remember these people have ONE GOAL: power. Morality, ethics, honor, decency, etc., are literally gibberish words for them. If running Her Heinous the Crone of Chappaqua gives them, in their minds, a better chance than Biden, they'll swap her in pronto.
FYI, and I'm posting this separately so you can read and then not approve it as I don't want to be seen just posting links to my blog (though it's been a while) - I did just finish a three-part essay about "The Power of Political Myth".
ReplyDeleteBe well and safe. Thank Hashem it's Friday.
They are screwed. Other than bland virtual unknowns, they have no one. Those who were - sort of - defeated by Biden in the primaries, have their own baggage. The men are weak in support, the women strident and unlikeable, and Bernie is just one good rant from a stroke.
ReplyDeleteBloomberg was their Hail Mary candidate - who flamed out quickly when his coronation did not follow.
But, don't get too cocky. There is always Ballot Harvesting, Voting the Dead and/or Illegal, and endless post-election court challenges, back up by impeachment ad infinitum. It's not over until we get the most non-RINO House and Senate we are able to muster.
AND, watch out for a "lone man with a gun" on the horizon, even after.
