My admiration for the great Charles Murray grew by an order of magnitude after this recent episode. First, the windup:
I’ve stayed in hotel rooms over the past week and was wondering if anyone else wishes manufacturers would write “shampoo” and “conditioner” in a bigger font so we could read them in the shower without our glasses. FFS π

And now the pitch:
Occasionally someone makes a point on X that I've been fretting about for years but was too timid to raise. But now that Mike has broken the ice, I also demand that the color of the font have more contrast with the color of the bottle. We've been victimized long enough. https://t.co/l00ol9tPSW

To which I was compelled to respond:
Yes! Ditto! And why isn't the music on hold Beethoven, Bach, or Chopin?
We declare the Revolution!!
Now, who will man the barricades alongside me?
Barricading might be tough, if we have to open bottles with plastic caps they now weld to the bottle, or have child proof caps that thwart child geniuses with access to tools. Then again, if a pair of slip-joint pliers are allowed, it might be a worthy effort.
ReplyDeleteI am an 82 YO man. I have never used conditioner or body wash. I admit I don't even know what they are or how to use them. I dislike liquid soaps, kind of oily and odd feel. I do use shampoo but I also just use bar soap to wash my hair. Growing up I don't remember shampoo in the house. Do men actually use conditioner? Or body wash? When I travel I bring a bar of soap not so much because I don't want to use the hotel bar soap but more because it is easier for me to use a full size bar of soap over the hotel size soap.
ReplyDeleteOn a slightly related note I don't use soap on my face. In the shower I splash water on my face but don't wash it. I don't wash my back or legs or feet either. I wash the four "pits" and my hair and I'm done inside of two minutes.
