Further, the total unfunded liabilities (state, local and federal) of the U.S., as of 2012, exceed $238 Trillion, or 3 times the annual Gross World Product (total economic activity of all the countries on earth). The United States is, today, the most indebted and bankrupt nation in the history of mankind."The America of 2013." By Steve McCann, The American Thinker, 1/3/13.

If only there were a way to inform the president.

Prior to the American War of Independence, many colonial observers believed that if only they could alert King George to their plight (which they believed was imposed by an unfeeling Parliament behind the King’s back) that his Royal Majesty would exert his power over Parliament and right the wrongs. They were deceived.
Irony abounds.
During the Purges many good communists, when arrested and marched in front of walls, believed that if only they could alert Comrade Stalin to their plight, he would exert his power over the NKVD and right the wrongs. They were misguided. Irony abounds.
After the full implementation of the Affordable Care Act many loyal Democrat voters, when denied medical treatment for themselves or aging loved ones, believed that if they could only alert President (for life) Obama to their plight, that his Royal Messiah-ness would exert his power over the medi-bureaucracy and right the wrongs. They were deceived. Irony abounds.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of that one but I'm not surprised. I suspect the same was true of the various czars and I know it was said of President Chiang Kai-shek that the true situation was being kept from him by advisers who knew it.
Of course, the reality, as you point out, is always the opposite. Therefore, the riddle of the Benghazi non-response is easy to solve. The president sits at the other end of a pipeline whose sole purpose is to channel every last snippet of information from around the world bearing on U.S. national security to responsible agencies and to skim off really critical information and deliver it to the president, in the shower if need be.
Of course, with this freak, it's necessary first to say, "Define national security." It seems that advancing the interests of the Muslim Brotherhood is an integral part of Obama's definition, but I'm drifting far afield here.
Anonymous (2nd comment), “Journey into the Whirlwind,” by Eugenia Ginzburg told a similar story. She and her husband were loyal party members and she ended up in a woman's prison that was pretty mild. She was imprisoned for no crime that she was aware of and yet, even though she was thrown in prison, her book was curious for its complete lack of outrage at her mistreatment.
She sounded like an idealist who seemed to think that something good was going to come out of communism and she seemed more surprised or hurt than angry. It didn't seem to occur to her that something rotten had been spawned.
It's been a while since I read the book so my memory may not be accurate in some respects here but I'm sure that I have her lack of outrage accurately.
I hope Obamacare is as educational as you suggest. I hope people learn the right lesson. Today there are still highly educated fools who think communism is great and that it just hasn't been implemented by the right kind of people.
