The recent publication of the nominations for the 2015 Academy Awards (“Oscars”) has prompted some sniping from the usual black racialist mouthpieces, because none of the nominees for individual-achievement awards are black. As usual, the cry of “Racism!” can be heard across the length and breadth of the land.
To which I reply: the nomination slates arise from individual nominations by the members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). For “racism,” however defined, to have any relevance to those slates, it would be necessary that “racism” was the reason for a majority of the various individual AMPAS members to have chosen their nominees. Therefore, the question becomes:
Take your time. I’ll wait.
