Yet Another Close Brush With Death

From just this morning:

FWP: So what will you be working on today?
CSO: Oh, just some odds and ends.

FWP: Ah! Well, do the odds first. That’s very important.
CSO: Why?

FWP: Because only if the odds are done can you go directly from the ends to the calculation of the averages. And then the old saying becomes true...
CSO: Hm? What old saying?

FWP: “The ends justify the means.”
