Enemies: A Call To The Colors

Just yesterday, in response to this article at Breitbart’s Big Government, I commented:

Remember, conservatives, that Dean is the enemy. Do not take counsel of the enemy!

To which some anonymous leftist – aren’t they always? – replied thus:

The ENEMY ? ... That is ridiculous.... No matter how much you may disagree with DEMS politically... WE ARE STILL YOUR FELLOW AMERICANS......... This existential threat you people have conjured in your heads is Destroying this country ....and is destroying the Republican Party to boot... Considering DEMS as your mortal enemy is absurd...........

And I, in the special clarity I seem to be able to achieve at 4 AM, replied thus:

I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for.” – Howard Dean.
You are the enemy.
You are not benevolent.
Your first goal is to disarm us.
Your second goal is to eliminate privacy.
Your third goal is to criminalize our opinions.
You want power for yourselves, and nothing else.
You believe yourselves entitled to rule us absolutely.
You routinely wish for the deaths of conservative figures.
You would have us forcibly “re-educated,” if you could pull it off.
You are trying to destroy all remaining restraints on the federal government.
You’re doing everything you can to criminalize disagreement with your agenda.
You accuse your political opponents of every foul crime and motivation in the book.
And you do it with a contemptuous smirk that says “You can’t stop us no matter what you do.”

I tried to grant you the presumption of integrity.
I can’t. You’ve forfeited all claim to decency or benign purpose.
The only difference between you and the Communists of North Korea is your skin tone.
From here to the end of my life, I will do all in my power to have you seen for what you really are.
Not decent people with different opinions about what’s best, or what means are acceptable.
Not persons agonized over America’s residuum of violence, or poverty, or racism.
Not neighbors peacefully willing to agree to disagree with other Americans.
You are none of those things.
You are the enemy.
You are villains.
Traitors.

If you dislike that, take it up with your fellow “Democrats.”
I will have no more of you.

And I realized that I’d penned a call to battle.

The Left’s most insidious weapon against us is our unwillingness to see its motivations clearly and to recognize them for what they are. We want so desperately to believe that they’re fundamentally decent, persons with whom we can share this country once we’ve worked out certain differences about acceptable means, that we deliberately blind ourselves to the implications of the tactics they’ve chosen. That deprives us of the righteous anger of a just cause: the anger that makes it possible to do battle with a clear head and a joyous heart.

The Left doesn’t have that problem. They see us as the enemy, to be defeated and subjugated or destroyed. They always have and they always will. That licenses them to use all the foul tactics that characterize them. It might strike you as bizarre, but they have that sense of righteous anger – toward us.

We need to match them. Not in tactics, but in fury and resolve. We won’t succeed at that until we answer their righteous anger with our own: the anger of freedom lovers and patriots determined to defend the greatest country in history, “the last, best hope of Mankind.”

Yes, we have truth and justice on our side. But many a noble cause has gone down to defeat because it was ineptly defended...because its defenders were men of divided hearts.

We can’t afford that. America can’t afford that. The stakes are too high.

Know your enemy.
Show him no mercy, allow him no respite, and offer him no quarter.
There’s no more time for vacillation, and no room whatsoever for compromise.
Rally ‘round the colors, boys.
The hour has come.

Many conservatives may not like the idea of "fury." We (especially those of us who are Christians) don't usually wish to match the ugliness of the Left. Perhaps we feel that showing fury and resolve would lead us into something far more sinister. But as you said:

"We can’t afford that. America can’t afford that. The stakes are too high."

We can't simply ignore unpleasantness any longer. Our families and the future of our progeny is at stake. War is ugly and unpleasant, and we are engaged in a war whether we realize it or not. The Left have definitely been behaving as if they were in a war, and they are indeed playing for keeps. It may behoove us to behave accordingly.

Very timely post, Fran. You are appreciated.

The enemy is the collectivist, central state, such as the present day America, and all its adherents, enablers, and useful idiots, which includes, but is not limited to, Democrats and Republicans.

I give less than a fuck, a rancid Milwaukee's Beast fart, what they or anyone else of a similar mind may like.
It has been too damn late in the day for far too long now.
Moreover, given the fact that everyone who avoids being vaporized at the buisness end of fission weapons, during the upcoming back and forth tournament of catch this hot potato motherfucker, will end up glowing in the dark, fuck it.
Fuck it, and fuck them in the ear two times!

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

If we shy away from righteous fury for the sake of what we suppose to be our Christian principles, we betray a misunderstanding of Who He is. Our God is a consuming fire. He is not, as Lewis wrote, a tame lion.

That which is evil grieves, angers, and offends Him. It should affect us the same way. We have a right to be angry, and a duty not to sin in that anger. The scripture even says "Be angry and sin not". The senseless violence in Oklahoma, Spokane, Chicago, DC, and elsewhere should raise our blood pressure. The mendacity of our elected liars should exceed the limits of our patience.

Was God wringing His hands when he smashed the Egyptians, or the Assyrians, or the Babylonians? Surely, He wept over Jerusalem, but there is a world of difference between Jerusalem, and those who should have known Him, and Nineveh. He sent prophets even to them, but in the end, their wickedness could bring only His wrath.

Be angry, and sin not.

If I may be so bold, I would like to disseminate your post (at the very least the "pennant" part) on both my bit of fluff on the net and Facebook as well. You will be given proper ID as the originator of same (with linkbacks).

Sounds damn close to being a call to arms. And it is well past time for doing so.

Go right ahead, Guy.

I feel the same piece could easily have been written substituting "black" for "democrat".

An excellent post sir. However, you forgot the weaponizing of the organs of government and the fact that these newly crafted weapons have been set upon conservatives. They are indeed our mortal foes. How many times have they called for the spilling of our blood? How many times have they lied about us? How many times have they falsely accused us?

Not our enemy my ass.

I have published a link to your patriotic article on my blog and at Facebook!

You turn out good work, while those enemies were sleeping at 0400. I posted a link at Sweet Tea & Livermush, as well.

Fifteen comments so far and nobody pointed out that the link you left for Big Government needs correction? It's a pity too since you already have top votes at the primary level, beaten only by the first response to you.

This is the proper link.

I went there and gave you a thumbs up. You currently have 173 votes. I encourage other Gentle Readers go there and give you a thumbs up too.

BTW, Mea Culpa. I noticed this problem yesterday and fixed it for myself, but neglected to mention until I tried to go back again today and discovered the problem all over again.

Mr. Porretto, I sincerely hope that when you used "we" and "us," that you were not referring to the Republican party or the political "right." Both the Republicans and politically "right-minded" people have had a hand in just as many deprivations against The People as has the Democrats and the political "Left-minded." With only one exception, your list of misdeeds can be equally applied to both political parties and political mindsets, with verifiable proof to back up both.

When a person speaks against only one half of a problem, it gives the appearance that that person supports the other half of the problem they are not speaking against.

There's a parallel between the political and the personal struggle: in both we suffer from normalcy bias. When thugs are beginning to stare or surround, we make the fatal mistake of telling ourselves that it's just our imagination; that this can't really be happening. We fight to suppress the fear that if channeled might give us the energy to fight or flight.

Its Ayn Rand's "Sanction of the Victim" - they take the fact that you aren't stabbing them in the face with a kitchen knife as proof that you still accept them and what they are doing. GET THEM OUT OF YOUR LIVES. I haven't spoken to my Mother, my Father, nor my Sister since the Obamacare decision and I told very clearly why I was cutting them out of me and my children's lives. (and I have been much happier since doing so) They said not a word of protest, said nothing to vindicate themselves. THEY KNOW they are guilty.

The left is all ego and NEEDS to think of themselves as good people, and if you don't help them do that, they have NO NEED OF YOU. They will drop their friendship with you as if it meant nothing.

If you let them, they will claim to be our "fellow citizens" till the end ( Fellow Citizens of What? This isn't America) and they are pushing us into gas chambers - for the Common Good.
