The Turkish revelation does not in any way endanger any American service man. Every actor in the region knows exactly where every American unit is, how many troops and what equipment it has, and they have a pretty good idea of each unit's orders and mission.

What this is is a poke in the eye. The Turks are furious that (1) we actively support organizations that seek the partition of Turkey, (2) that we might have had a hand in the failed coup, and (3) that we refuse to extradite Gulen, who almost certainly had a hand in the coup.

The continuing deterioration in Turkish/American relations, which does not seem to concern State and Defense in the least, will eventually lead to a regional catastrophe for the US. Our current policies are leading to the partition of Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey to create a Kurdish state. That can only result in all four states (rather than just Iran) becoming our adversaries. The Egyptian and Libyan militaries remembers our hand in the removals of Mubarak and Gaddafi, too.

All of this is the work of our deluded neocons. One has to wonder if they are consciously seeking the destruction of the US. They certainly have no loyalty to it.

A+. That same thought occurred to me. Two of the locations revealed have cargo planes and helicopters landing and taking off from them (respectively). Whoever could be flying those planes?!

That's one thing. The other is that troops wearing American uniforms anywhere in Syria will be noticed. In Nam every U.S. camp, outpost, redoubt, schwerpunkt, FOB, compound, base, or installation was right out there before God and man. The jihadi swine would have to be comatose not to have compiled a list within 24 hours of any base being established.

The U.S. seems more and more tone deaf and it's hardly a recent phenomenon. It's a lot like my alleged witticism that everyone is entitled to my opinion. We seem to think that our input, guiding hand, "leadership" [bow head in solemn appreciation], and example [shed tears of gratitude] mean something to the rest of the world. With our own country rotting from within and political contests that resemble mud wrestling contests between the emptiest suits you can imagine I don't know what we think we're doing around the world, especially with given our perilous fiscal and debt problems.

"We" means neocons, of course. Whatever their agenda is they aren't sharing.

I don't care much for the Turkish government. Nor do I care much for Gulen and his inroads into American schools. The Turks have been more than willing to participate in the egregious attack on Syria, moreover, not to mention their willingness to purchase oil from ISIS. Whatever relationship we have with them now is a Cold War artifact with an admixture of whatever it is that we want to accomplish in the Middle East. I predict if we ever closed down our operations at Incerlik AB a howl of protest would arise from AIPAC. A clue.

America is sitting on its laurels and hasn't a clue what it is doing around the world. One hundred and three years after the massive, pointless bloodshed of WWI we have twits who don't remember that slaughter playing around with lies about Russian expansionism and thuggery.
