Our petty, vindictive, manipulative, scheming Navy.

Here's a story that will fry your frazzle:

"USNA Cancel Culture: Update on MIDN 1/C Chase Standage, USN." By Stu Cvrk, RedState, 1/24/21.

This to skewer a Naval Academy midshipman with "an exemplary record." And note the part about having the man repay $174,753, the cost of his education at the Academy.

That's fine. The tuition, unlike a student loan, is dischargeable in bankruptcy. Free college degree. He didn't want to serve in the military during the upcoming troubles anyhow.

The point of this was not to win; it was to send a very strong message to the rest of the Academy students.
Shut your mouth. Or else.

I've seen a similar process in a corporate environment. It never ends well. Group think leads to bad outcomes.

Perhaps Midshipmen Standish should get in touch with Chaplain Gordon Klingenschmitt. He was a Navy Chaplain who stood for court martial for preaching the word of Jesus Christ. Chaplain Klingenschmitt has been instrumental in successfully appealing the court martial of other Chaplains serving in the various branches.

It has occurred to me that what Standage wrote might have been something racially or sexually indiscrete. The article does not hint at what he actually wrote and I inferred from the story that it was something politically incorrect. That said, the official who initially reversed the Navy's decision surely knew what Standage had posted and if it were that all-fired reprehensible he surely would have acted differently.

Standage is clearly a midshipman who meets all basic requirements. Conservative, patriotic, common sense expression seems to be what drives the left to bring out the long knives and fire up their vindictive genes and I'm betting this is what is at play here. Sexual misjudgment or worse doesn't seem to set off any alarms for them.

So I'm sticking with my conclusion that the Navy is out to crucify a conservative and a patriot here. Its initial and ultimate positions smack of pettiness and vindictiveness to say the least.
