What the Left Doesn't GET

They don't GET us.

They are used to "nice" GOP members and candidates. You know, the kind that blush when you scream at them, and apologize for triggering you.

The kind that can be cursed at, have their spouse insulted, and their children bullied unto tears.

Who will then cringe and ask what they can change to make all that stop.

You know. Romney, Collins, Murkowski. Jeff Flake.

They are so anxious to be liked by the "cool kids" that they just BEG for you to let them in.

That's not Trump - he doesn't give a rat's ass if you like him. Whether you do or not, he keeps his self-respect.

And, that's not most of the people who voted for him.

So, go ahead. Tell us it's over. Ridicule our evidence of fraud. Kick us off social media. Threaten our jobs.

We're not folding and creeping away this time. We've drawn the line in the sand.

"President" by Dictate of the "Not-Left" Media

 There are no words.

I just checked the disputed states - his total ASSUMES that he will win AZ, NV, GA, AND PA. Without PA alone, he is just at 270. If ANY of the others that are very close, and entitled to a recount, go to Trump, then a win on PA puts Trump in contention. He may not get a 270, but it goes to the House, where each state only get ONE vote.

So, Trump would win.

The Dems are making a pre-emptive strike, in the hopes of persuading Trump to give up.

Give Up?

Have they ever MET Trump? I don't see him folding.

And, it's something that I'm very familiar with - a bluff. The louder and firmer the Bluffer's voice, the worse his hand is.

From Rush:

". “Biden Underperforms Hillary Clinton and Obama.” Underperforms means that he did worse. Biden got fewer votes in this election than Hillary and Obama except in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Wisconsin. How the hell does that happen? Joe Biden gets fewer votes than Hillary and Obama all over this country on Tuesday this year.

Except in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin? Every damn state he needs, where they have been counting votes in the dark, where they have not let people in to watch the vote-counting process, where they’ve been putting cardboard up on the windows, doing everything they can to prevent anybody from watching what they’re doing — with ballots coming in by the tens of thousands overnight while everybody else is asleep.

How does this happen? How does Biden do worse than Obama and Hillary except in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin — and there’s no get-out-the-vote effort, folks. They did not have that. They didn’t spend their money on that. Meaning there was no grassroots. And we had people calling and commenting on this. There was nobody knocking on doors.

There was nobody driving little yellow buses on Tuesday to get Biden voters to the polling places. That get-out-the-vote effort didn’t happen. This is all done under cover of darkness. Then you’ve got these mail-in ballot dumps with 100% margins for Joe Biden? Come on, folks. As Biden likes to say, “Come on, man!” We’re supposed to sit here and believe this?"

MAKE them give you any other explanation that the truth - the Dem Machine STOLE this.

This is what is known as "cooling the mark".
After a con has taken place, the problem is that the mark (the guy who was cheated) might find a policeman and have them arrested, before they can clear out of town.
That's where the last step comes in - a "neutral observer" (really, in cahoots with the cons) spends time with the mark, and persuades him that:
- He really WASN'T cheated - it was ALL honest
- It wouldn't be worth it to complain, because he wouldn't get his money or property back
- He would look foolish if he lets people know about his being conned.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you FB's attempt at "cooling the mark"

Unanswered Questions

Forgive me, Gentle Reader. I can’t bring myself to write about the election or what has followed. My sense that the Hideous Strength has finally taken America in its fist, to squeeze as it wishes, has become too strong to be borne. To maintain any semblance of sanity, I must look away.

I pray a lot these days. It’s about all I’m good for.

Anyway, for the foreseeable future – how long that will last, I cannot say – I’ll be writing about other things.

1. “Conventional warfare.”

The distinction in military terminology between “conventional weapons” and “weapons of mass destruction” has held firm for some time. Yet we must remember that conventional has no fixed meaning. “A matter of convention” means nothing more than “This is the way things are done.” It has no enduring weight – certainly no moral weight.

This is on my mind because of a passage I’ve just encountered in a science fiction novel. A general staff is pondering whether to use antimatter bombs, anathematized by all known solar systems and governments, to win an engagement. One of the commanders in the conversation says “At least it’s conventional.”

That elevated my eyebrows. Antimatter explosions would be the largest imaginable sort, as they would involve the total conversion of matter to energy rather than the partial conversion available from fission or fusion explosions. The complete conversion of a kilogram of matter to energy – say, by introducing 500 grams of antimatter to 500 grams of matter – would produce a 21 Megaton explosion. Antimatter weapons would be the ultimate weapons of mass destruction.

Clearly, in the setting of the aforementioned novel, there’s been some drift in the military meaning of “conventional.” We also have the question Arthur Herzog posed in The B.S. Factor: “Is killing conventional?” But perhaps we should save that one for another day.

2. The “reasonable man” standard.

There are many laws and regulations that specify, at some point, what has come to be called the “reasonable man” rule for determining the legality of some action. It’s another phrase that has no fixed meaning – a phrase that allows bureaucrats to get away with whatever they please. For in what gallery of standards is there a certified “reasonable man” against whose judgments a ruling might be measured?

Reason is about the use of evidence and the tools of deduction and induction to reach conclusions. From that, one would think that the “reasonable man” would be one who eschews all other methods of reaching a decision. Has there ever been such a man? If so, why haven’t we preserved him in a glass case, so that we might bring “reasonable man” decisions before him for his ratification?

A proper judge would strike any law or regulation that reposes on a reasonable-man standard as “void for vagueness.”

3. The “necessary and proper” clause.

Here’s one that should have been put to bed long ago. As you probably recall, it features in clause 18 of Article I, Section 8 of that somewhat significant document, the Constitution of the United States:

[The Congress shall have power] To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.

The odious Nancy Pelosi once claimed that the Necessary and Proper clause empowers Congress to do whatever it pleases. Incredibly, even Robert Ringer, a strong libertarian, agreed with that interpretation in his book Restoring the American Dream. But why? Why would the Founding Fathers, so intent upon limiting the powers of the newly-born federal government, have put such a provision into the Constitution?

The answer, like the answers to most thorny questions, is utterly obvious once you’ve seen it:

Finish the sentence!

To have meaning, “necessary” and “proper” require a defined context. Necessary to what? Proper by what standard? The Constitution answers those questions in the very next phrase: “for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.”

A law is necessary if without it, a power granted to Congress in the previous seventeen clauses could not be executed. A law is proper if it has no effects, whether intended or unintended, that go beyond the powers granted to Congress or that violate a Constitutionally guaranteed right. While there can be some discussion about the precise limits the Necessary and Proper clause imposes on federal legislation, there can be no doubt that it establishes limits rather than an unbounded expanse of Congressional power. It is sharply at odds with the powers Congress has usurped this century past.

Of course, few Congressvermin would agree with your humble Curmudgeon on this interpretation. They like having unbounded power. Without it, they’d have nothing to sell to their donors and supporters.

That’s all for today, I think. Once more, I exhort you: Pray for our country.

How It’s Done

     You know the old saying:

If you can’t dazzle ‘em with brilliance,
Baffle ‘em with bullshit!

...and it is so. But from time to time, the brilliance and the bullshit make a matched set. Indeed, they complement one another so well that they raise the effect to a new height. Here’s an example:

As the dessert forks were being licked clean, a breathless Earnest Redding burst into the room and raced to the captain’s side.
     “We…I…You’ll…” he gasped.
“Easy Earnest, catch your breath, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong, Captain,” he managed after taking a gulp of air. “It’s what’s right! We’ve had a breakthrough.”
“Really?” Sera asked. “Something beyond the information I provided?”
“Oh yes, very much so, and no. Though we wouldn’t have been able to manage it without your graviton systems and all those research studies you provided, as well.”
“So, what is it, then?” Terrance asked, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
“We’ve discovered how to use the graviton emission systems that Captain Sera provided us with—emissions that work in matter repulsion and photon redirection in directional and focused beams and waves—to create a generalized and consistent suspension wave in the form of a massive halo upon which we were able to successfully place a McPherson generality focus layer tuned to a specific area of space, while altering the gravitational waves supporting it to form a hard shell of non-focused space underneath it.” He said without taking a single breath.
“OK, I’m no slouch when it comes to physics, but you’ve gone levels beyond what I knew existed,” Tanis said.
“It’s a stasis shield,” Sera said, feeling as though the breath had been sucked from her. “He figured out how to make a gods damned stasis shield.”

[From Malorie Cooper’s Destiny Lost, the first volume of her Orion War series.]

In a way, the above is about characterization. Earnest Redding, the out-of-breath figure who delivered that ultra-technical soliloquy – and don’t bother yourself about the details; it’s all the sort of ersatz physics you’ll encounter in any science fiction novel – is supposed to be a genius’s genius; say, about as smart as your humble Curmudgeon (:-). To have him rush pell-mell into a formal dinner and deliver such a statement, in an obviously high state of triumphant emotion, is absolutely characteristic of such a man / mind. It’s a beautiful example of how to use a character’s behavior to depict him as what he’s supposed to be.

Cooper’s Orion War series is rendered in such vivid tones that one who appreciates complex plotting and good characterization can only applaud. Yes, there are legions of larger-than-life / too-good-or-bad-to-be-true characters, but the opus requires exactly such figures to navigate its vermiculations and achieve its conclusion. It’s replete with dazzling bullshit of the highest quality. Recommended!

My Plan for Staying Sane Over the Next Few Weeks

 I have a plan:

  • Eat sensibly - lots of high protein food, fiber, and quality snacks
  • Exercise modestly - mostly stretching, concentration on strength and balance, and long walk - preferably outside
  • Work on NaNoWriMo writing. Goal is to finish a long-delayed first draft.
  • Avoid television. Do not  watch the news. Do not watch election 'analysis' - it will be DESIGNED to sap my will to continue the fight.
  • Get a good night's sleep.
  • Pray. I'm thinking of a novena, which is traditional for desperate causes.
I should probably add: stay away from CW 2.0 novels - I love Kurt Schlichter, but I need to consciously avoid thinking about those kind of outcomes as likely, for now. Time to move into prep mode later (I'm making a gamble that this will not get 'hot' until after the holidays - it is hard to get people to focus on marching, rioting, and mayhem during the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, when we may not even get to travel to visit family in many parts of the country).

Post your own Sanity Plan in the comments.

Coming soon to a nation near you.

Basically, what this [vote fraud] shows is the vast difference in ethics and morality between "liberals" and "conservatives". Generally speaking, the Left has no qualms about cheating or other criminal behavior in order to attain their goal of absolute dominance. And generally speaking, the Right is consciously concerned about "fairness" and legality when it comes to establishing their preferred form of governance.

When the Left gains power, we get communism/socialism/totali-
tarianism. When the Right gains power, you get true Republicanism
.

Many will also snidely add "fascism" to that outcome. However, learned folk know that fascism and National Socialism were both REactions to the very real threats of communism and the violence which the Left instigated.

If the Right is not permitted their God-given right to self-determination through Republic means, then their only recourse will be a similar violent reaction under a more disciplined and dictatorial leadership. It's the only language communists understand. You cannot reason with, nor live honestly with people who play by a rulebook based on immorality and ruthlessness.

Glory Days, and Today's Left

It's not a BAD song (Glory Days, by Bruce Springstein). But, it always makes me think:

Dude, Grow the &^%$ Up! Those days are over. Move on!

Well, that's the Left; they never did move on from those days when they thought they were the Masters of the Universe. Those days when they marched in unison, shouting F$%@ LBJ/Nixon/Ray-gun/Bushitler". Those days when they, and their comrades, were destined to take over this country.

A few of them found modest jobs in government; some locally, some in Washington. And, they would gather at the end of the day, in their tight little groups, reminiscing about their past Glory Days, talking trash about all the 'rubes' and 'hicks' who didn't see them in that same dazzling light with which they saw themselves. Plotting a little revolution in quiet corners, drinking more than a little too much.

And, the next morning, waking up with a hangover in their lonely apartments, going into their boring jobs, and doing it all again - 40 hours a week, week after week, year after year.

Only to see, right after their Hero, the Lightworker, reached the end of his last term, that Horrible Orange Man and his Cruel Master of the Handmaidens VP, take office. Defeating their Chosen Successor, HRC, the Officially Smartest Woman to EVER be elected.

Which, she was. Until, by some unknown but certainly nefarious means, he STOLE the job.

****** Interlude - 4 years of Screaming and LOTS of wine and whining ******

But, THIS time, they will definitely win! With a Brown VP who is a WOMYN!

Yeah.

Don't even try to confront them with reality - you do know that the insane often become violent when you try to do that, don't you?

Just go to court to stop the blatant theft in progress. And, set out wine - LOTS of wine.

And, back away quietly.

A Thought Suddenly Occurred to Me

The Dems will NOT want this to drag out. If it does, AND the House flips to Republican-controlled, Nancy will NOT be Prez. Now, at the moment, it doesn't seem that likely - we'd need to pick up 21 seats in the undecided districts.

But, wouldn't that be fun?

So, What Are YOUR Predictions?

Here's one from a member of Turning Point USA. He's not hopeful, if the Biden/Harris challenges to legal voting prevail.

He mentions a term I'd never heard before - Cost-Push Inflation. It's a good term to use for the kind of inflation that is CAUSED by unchecked government mandates. It's also a concept that would serve as an introduction to younger people, about the idea that not all inflation is the same. They seldom see the connection between their idealistic goals, and the dystopian outcomes.

The Foundation for Economic Education is a good start. They have some books that are foundational. They also have a good assortment of videos, which many younger people prefer. They have selections on not only economics, but also politics, culture, and education. Check out their 'Minimum Wage' story.

For my state, South Carolina, it was a surprise win. Lindsey made a heroic effort, hitting the talk shows, appearing in person, and generally working hard to retain his seat against a candidate with a carefully airbrushed past, and a LOT of money.

I was never happy with Jaime Harrison - he was a stealth candidate, with little background information available on him (and, what there was, was uniformly positive). Now, NO human being is without flaws/errors in his past. If you depended on the media to DO THEIR FREAKIN' JOB, you were out of luck. Only some late in October ads, that pointed out Harrison's radical beliefs, finally broke the wall that kept SC from electing a Manchurian candidate (NOT a NK mole, but someone about whom nothing bad is ever said). That wouldn't have been possible but for some late-in-the-day money that Lindsey finally secured. Many of his previous corporate donors were backing Harrison's play. Might they have been targeted for that effort, not because Harrison actually planned to support their interests, but because, by cutting off Graham's money supply, the Harrison contingent could smother any effective opposition?

I've been reading the anthology Divided We Fall: One Possible Future. Warning: don't read it if you have guns in your house, particularly if you've been drinking/watching the news. It might just tip you over the edge.

He said with a straight face.

Former head of the UK’s MI6 spy network to Angelina Jolie:
“Russia feels threatened by the quality of our alliances and, even in the current environment, the quality of our democratic institutions. It sets out to denigrate them, and it uses intelligence services to that end. It is a serious problem, and we should organize to prevent it”.[1]
Oh, brother. Massive media censorship, street thug assaults on speech, hate speech hysteria, media monopoly, ballot manipulation, post office corruption, Soros's secretaries of state project, a constitutionally-ineligible vice presidential candidate on the ballot (#3), out-of-control political correctness, and a public debate long since drifted loose from simple rationality, inter bleeping alia.

Yes. Russia is threatened by "our democratic institutions."

As for the "quality of our alliances" we have France and Germany sinking under the waves of self-engineered Muslim replacement, their fiscal and monetary idiocy, their own brand of internal repression, and freeloading on the U.S. for nigh on 75 years. Not to mention an unrepresentative, repressive European superstate committed to globalism and diversity, the Ottoman loose cannon with pretensions and a military just begging for an ass whooping.

Yes. Give up now, Vladimir. Before it's too late!

James O'Keefe Should Win an Award for Investigative Journalism

Especially THIS, showing an interview with a postal worker claiming that the bosses are telling them to roll back the postmark date to November 3rd for all ballots received by, or after, November 4. This is specifically not permitted under the MI state constitution. Can't find the video on Youtube, but it's available on Project Veritas.

The Official Word in the Media of the Left is that the evidence is 'shady' or 'scant' (their words). But, keep in mind the modus operandi of PV - roll out those tapes one at a time.

There may be more evidence coming.

NEW Ways to Steal Votes from GOP

AZ is trying to mark invalid numbers of ballots filled out in sharpies. Trouble is, the word that's hitting the 'Net is that they were GIVEN the sharpies by the poll workers.

https://twitter.com/mschlapp/status/1324031623785029634

In Milwaukee, Ballot Dump - 100K/200K 'suddenly' appear. They're CLAIMING a typo - that just HAPPENS to be in their favor? More reason to keep an eye - or two - on them. The thing is, the speed at which this is distributed, and the oversight of the average person is greater than it used to be. It's harder to use their traditional methods to slip the votes in.

This time, people have been watching, and the fraud is obvious.

However, that won't stop the media from saying this is a done deal. I was watching CBS (What can I say? My husband is a sucker for a good looking woman, and Norah O'Donnell certainly is that.), they are trying to show that there really is no way that Trump can win, at this point. They're claiming states that are still counting, they're insisting that states that look like Trump is winning are Biden's, and they're spending a lot of time "demonstrating" that the election is over, accept it, Biden is the new Prez.

God help us.

I'm a diehard. I generally hang in there with my party through to the last ballot. I'm not ready to give up on this. But, no matter what happens, I'm NOT giving up on America.

In the morning, the sun will shine. The air will still smell as sweet. And, as always, we will have the freedom we are prepared to die for.

As Sean Connery said in The Untouchables:

The Chaos Commences

     Wisconsin: 10 electoral college votes.
North Carolina: 15 electoral college votes.
     Michigan: 16 electoral college votes.
     Georgia: 16 electoral college votes.
     Pennsylvania: 20 electoral college votes.

Those states control a total of seventy-seven electoral college votes. President Trump leads by large margins in four of them – large enough that, in previous elections, the various media “decision desks” would have called those states for him and his opponent would have conceded the race to him. But 2020, of course, is different.

Now we will see the legal challenges commence and the troves of “found ballots” emerge. The Secretaries of State in four of those states are Democrats. They will do their best to bend the rules in Biden’s favor. The criteria for which ballots are deemed worthy of inclusion will be the loosest they can contrive under their states’ respective laws.

What will come of it? Are there enough legitimate votes for Biden to pull the rug out from under President Trump? No one can say at this time. But whatever that count may be, the deciding factor could prove to be the number of illegitimate votes the Democrat machines of those states can contrive to get past the election rules.

     This is what comes of:

  • Voting by mail;
  • Same-day registration;
  • No signature matching;
  • No voter ID required at the polls;
  • The counting of ballots cast after Election Day.

The trustworthiness of American election procedures has been destroyed, possibly for good.

I feel certain that, had the election been conducted along traditional lines, President Trump would have been soundly re-elected, perhaps even with a majority of the national popular vote. But that was yesterday, and yesterday’s gone. What I can glimpse, however cloudily, of what’s to come has me terribly frightened.

There will be dueling arguments for which ballots must and must not be counted. There will be accusations and counter-accusations from the two contending camps. There will be rioting and massive destruction in America’s cities. And America will be largely paralyzed as the electoral madness plays out.

Little of this would have been possible were it not for the Wuhan Virus and the arguments it supported for voting by mail. That’s the most vivid of all the danger flags we face. Note that it was states governed by Democrats that led the charge for that innovation. Note also that it was prominent Democrats who were responsible for most of the hysteria-mongering over the “pandemic.”

There must be a reckoning...but whether there will be, and if so, when it will arrive, remains unclear.

     Pray for our country.

Tonight's Theme Song

(Shake it up!)

Liveblogging Election 2020 Coverage

2:26 am - Woke up. I could be wrong, but it looks as though Trump will win. About 1/2 dozen races are not colored Red by the media, although it certainly looks as though Trump won. I suppose that they are waiting for the onslaught of mail-in ballots that usually saves the Dem butt.

I'm not sure that they can pull it off now. There aren't that many voters who are left. Even 'same-day' voting won't help them, as mail-in ballots won't qualify for that "Hey, we have a NEW voter here". Perhaps it will take another few elections for the Dems to figure out how to cheat, given the prevalence of both early and mail-in voting by the GOP.

Trump's quick action in having lawyers available in likely contested states was wise. Rather than fuss about it, he's turning it over to the professionals (assuming that those lawyers are competent). I'd feed more hopeful if these were private lawyers, with experience in voter laws, but you take what you can get.

Expect the Dems to drag this out as long as they can. They have more than 2 months to weaponize the media in their effort to try this (Lord, I hope) final grab at the prize. At least the GOP appears to have won the Senate.

9:30 pm - I'm going to bed.

6:07 pm - the polls should be starting to close over the next hour/90 minutes. Few voting issues came up today. I assume that a good part of that was the high number of voters who took the early or mail-in option.

Anyone who is in line when closing time comes will be permitted to vote.

I'm reading Divided We Fall: One Possible Future. Probably not the best reading for a nervous waiting time, but it's good - very good. One way or another, we should have some indication of which way the wind is blowing by the end of the evening. Keep praying.

12:02 pm - there's a trend that I wasn't aware of, that makes the stakes higher for the Presidential election than I knew. In 2016, the Senate seats up for election lined up with the state's presidential pick. For those Republican seats in danger, that would be great (I'm assuming that Trump is likely to win).

Here's the story, from CNN.

10:21 am - I'm pacing myself - not going to sit on the news channels/websites about the election all day. My husband changed the channel to the Game Show network. He's checking email, and I'm on Hoda and Jenna right now - it's fluff, but relatively pleasant.

8:27 am - I just checked the numbers of NEW cases of COVID and the deaths (785 cases, 10 deaths) - the percentage is 1.3%. Definitely down in SC.

8:24 am - An 'expert' talking about how to speak to friends and family about the election. She doesn't say, but I suspect she leans Left. She seems to think that SOMEONE will need to be able to express their disappointment and fears.

I'm guessing that WON'T be Trump voters. Something tells me that the 'bad' news has spread among the media.

8:15 am - I took advantage of a break in the election coverage to make my coffee. I've been up since around 4:30, but I'm trying NOT to drink coffee so early; I made some cocoa instead. I've been drinking more herbal tea lately for my first drink.

Well, that's important. Today is pointing out that only 10% of Germans support Trump.

Get a clue, Krauts. YOU don't have a vote in this.

Sen. James Risch (R) points out that China aggression is not an R/D issue - "It's an American issue."

8:10 am - the election coverage is being interrupted by reports from EU (Vienna) about terror attacks.

8:07 -  really hate the masks on outdoors reporters - why the hell bother? They could easily distance themselves from nearby people. It makes it very hard to understand what they are saying.

Savannah Guthrie is one of the main speakers on all of this. Naturally, she is showing the restraint on bias, and careful attention to impartially.

Oh, I gotta stop - I'm going to hurt myself laughing!

Election Morning - 8:00 am - I turned on the TV (antsy, just couldn't sit there). It's the Today Show, which intro'd the Trump clip talking about his comments about COVID (after the Biden claim that he would "Hire Fauci").

Whoever was talking preceded the clip by sniping about his "False Claim" - that we were rounding the corner on COVID.

8:05 am - Brix is featured, 'blasting Trump' on his claims.

God Forbid the Deplorables should be able to think for themselves!

Time to Re-Boot My Leftism 4 Beginners Work

I started it, have added to it incrementally since, and - after seeing this on The New Neo's site - think it's time to get back to it.

After the election. Maybe next week.

This week, starting today, I'm going to start clearing off my desk, making some calls I've been putting off, and get my Franklin planner updated. I've put too much of my life on hold, nervously watching news updates, reading blogs, and worrying.

It's in God's hands now.

The Hour Is Upon Us

     You know what to do.

How the idea of the common good evaporated.

I like this insight by Charles Hugh Smith. I loathe the cowardice, obtuseness, and malevolence of federal, state, and local authorities. Some officials are still sane but the news is full of examples of those who simply refuse to use state power to carry out government's four most sacred duties:
  • keep foreign primitives out,
  • crucify domestic primitives,
  • get out of the way of entrepreneurial dynamism, and
  • don't screw with the money (destroy what citizens have built up).
They refuse to act because the wishes of ordinary citizens who have to deal with "diversity" and "Lord of the Flies" neighborhoods are a matter of indifference to the dregs of society who call the shots. The genius of the Founders and Ratifiers has been utterly subverted and our political, social, institutional, and cultural bedrock is now a ghastly joke. Think I'm joking? Consider that one of the CEOs of the social media giants who presume to magisterially decide what it is mete and proper for you to read, hear, and say is Jack Dorsey, someone who looks like he just left Woodstock 20 minutes ago in his VW bus. Rip van Winkle with a nose ring in need of a shower and a visit to the barber. What normal American doesn't think to himself or herself, "My kinda guy."

Smith:

There is no way America would be as corrupt as it now is if the Fed hadn't provided trillions of dollars to those most anxious to corrupt every institution that might limit their greed and power. If money wasn't [sic] free, the predators, parasites, zombies and monopolists couldn't borrow such enormous sums to jack up their share price and buy political influence to protect their winnings.

The Fed's policy of permanent, expanding manipulation has picked the winners in our economy--the predators, parasites, zombies and monopolists who use Fed free money to strangle competition, eliminate transparency and corrupt anything that might represent the public interest or the common good, because these are anathema to the predators, parasites, zombies and monopolists.[1]

As I've pointed out earlier, low interest rates keep stock prices high as well by punishing savers who have to embrace risk-on investments just to try to stay ahead of inflation, let alone enhance their nest eggs.

Mr. Smith put it all together with this article. The money has flowed into the hands of the dregs of society and they buy sociopath politicians and whatever tools they need to protect and increase their power. The interests of George Soros, Sheldon Adelson, Mark Zuckertrucker, the Koch brothers, Google, the Fed, General Electric, Gillette, the courts, the top military brass, and a host of other swine are not OUR interests yet they're out there taking a jackhammer to our bedrock institutions and values.

Time Spent with Mainstream Media

Well, it was MSNBC, after all. If that's the standard for fairness and impartiality, I can understand just how skewed people's thinking can become.

Liberals always say, "Well, FOX!" as though their bias is clear. I point out to them, they criticize Trump and the GOP all the time. It's just that they're a little less likely to overlook a good story because it doesn't end in the conclusion, Orange Man Bad - VERY Bad.

If I regularly listened to the news, I'd be near-suicidal. The good news is that I seldom turn on the TV during the day. Most of what I know from news off-Web is from listening when my husband is home. Fortunately, although a Dem, he likes to look at pretty women, and the best looking women are on Fox.

If you believe the Election Analysis, Biden is cruising to an easy victory. In the battleground states, he's got an overall lead of 5%. And, if you've been following election reports over several decades or more, that's really an insurmountable lead.

Just about every one of the talking heads dismisses the "shy voter". But, in a country where openly displaying your voter preference can put your job in jeopardy, they may well be some small percentage of the voters.

A bigger factor is that this year's polls are essentially flying blind. Previously, when polling organizations called to test the sentiment, they could count on reaching about 50% of the voting population.

Not now. Actual contacts are around 2%. At that point, no amount of modeling or data massaging will obscure the hard fact that the pollsters are guessing.

I just saw the Election Projections, and, surprisingly to me, they're giving Trump PA. That's a big change in a short time. The Senate is the big problem. We really cannot afford to lose more than 3 seats of the ones up for grabs.

I'm so glad this is nearly over. My nerves can't stand this up and down.

In the Words of That Guy From Brooklyn...

 ...Biden's gonna get moidered.

The Career Politician is going down!

Signs are everywhere. The huge crowds for Trump. The lack of enthusiasm for Biden. The aenemic way even the media support Mr. 10%.

Spontaneous rallies, even in the absence of the headliner - people don't care, they just want to show their support.

Car caravans. AMISH buggy drive-bys. If that isn't a tip-off as to the depth and strength of Trump's support, I don't know what would convince you. The Amish (who I was surrounded by in Ashtabula County, years ago) do NOT engage in worldly things like elections. If they're in, it's over.

Heck, despite the strenuous effort of the Officially Smart People to persuade the Wretched Masses that ALL the Cool Kids were switching from Trump to Biden, the exact opposite has happened. Many former Never Trumpers have embraced Trump.

Former Dems are switching to vote for him. Union members are bucking the leadership to endorse him. Never-Before-Registered-to-Vote newbies signed up in huge numbers to make sure that Trump won, Biden loses.

Like the troops who fought the Dark Forces in the Return of the King, we had fought long and seemingly without success. They went all-in with Obama. They sank the economy to grasp power (I will always believe that the market crash - the timing of it - was planned. It wasn't JUST to hold it off long enough to get their money out. It was also designed to destroy the average person's lifetime savings, impose even more regulations on corporate America, and, oh yeah, bail out their cronies.)

We've been slogging along since then. Building our alternative sources of income. Building up our prep stores. Paying down debt, learning new skills, re-building our lives.

And, educating ourselves. Just about everyone who is active in the Normal Citizen circles has ignored the propaganda, looked behind the official news stories, read foundational books, and spent some serious time learning about the issues, from a factual, not emotional, standpoint.

Most of us were faithful to our vision of a better America. We kept in the battle, even though the cost was dear. Some of us even lost beloved family members to the Dark Forces.

Well, tomorrow is The Return of the King. I don't mean that Trump is Jesus Returned. I'm talking about a worldly leader, who - at the end, is showing up to stand by the troops and fight, and has brought reinforcements with him. He's also gathered the lawyers to prevent some last minute trickery with the ballots. And, for at least a while, he's beaten back the Dark Forces.

BTW, the Dark Forces is not Biden - he's a placeholder, who will be set aside for Harris in a short while, should they win. But, she is controlled, faint heart and blackened little soul, by the Elite of the Left.

Interregnum Or Restoration?

This will probably be the last thing I post at Liberty’s Torch until Election Day is behind us. My thoughts this morning center on conceptions of continuity and upheaval, and what they mean within the nominal political order of these United States.

We who comment on current affairs are prone to overusing dramatic words and phrases. We want to have an impact, you see. We seek to rivet you to our emissions, to make you think you’re reading something that could be massively consequential. So we’re prone to “overstating the case,” whatever the case may be.

One of the words we tend to use inappropriately is revolution. “A revolution in federal budgetary management.” “A revolution in regulatory policy.” “A revolution in American foreign policy.” “A revolution in Americans’ attitudes.” With so many revolutions being bruited about, you really have to wonder why you can’t hear the gunfire.

If we were compelled to be accurate in speaking of the events we style “revolutions” or “revolutionary,” those words would be almost completely absent from our lexicon. Revolutions are the stuff of Third World countries ruled by dictators and juntas. That’s because there’s no other way for the order of things to change in such places. And even in such benighted lands, the word “revolution” is often less appropriate than “coup.”

The United States hasn’t had a revolution since the one that gave birth to the country. We’ve had a number of disturbances to the continuity of our affairs, the Civil War / War Between The States / Late Unpleasantness being the most dramatic. But a true revolution, in which the Constitutional order is completely destroyed in favor of some wholly alien arrangement, has not occurred here.

What Americans suffer is something less easily discerned and therefore far more insidious. It’s called gradualism. Small changes to our political arrangements at the margins, insufficiently resisted when proposed even when openly antithetical to the Constitution’s guarantees, accumulate over time. The wheel turns by such small increments that we can hardly detect its motion. But given time enough, the tiny changes – an infringement on freedom of speech here; a restriction of the right to acquire weapons there; an arrogation of power over some longstanding social arrangement; a “tax” or regulation imposed not for revenue generation but to engineer compliance with an illegitimate but noble-sounding aim – sum to a complete transformation of the Land of the Free into something utterly alien.

Revolution? No. Slow, incremental transformation? Yes.

In the first paragraph of the previous segment, I spoke of the nominal political order of the U.S. “Nominal,” of course, means “in name:” the Constitutional order we speak of when asked about it. It’s been clear to me for some time that that order has been thoroughly subverted. If it’s been clear to you as well, congratulations. You’re one of a clear-eyed few.

The “big reveal” took place during the House of Representatives’ ditherings over ObamaCare. Someone – I forget who – asked the odious Nancy Pelosi where in the Constitution Congress was granted the power to legislate on such matters. She indignantly said “That is not a serious question” and stalked away. Later on, she cited the “Necessary and Proper” clause and said, quite plainly, that it “gives us [Congress] the power to do anything.”

I shall refrain from analyzing the Necessary and Proper clause here. Rather, I shall ask a deeper question: If Congress has a legitimate power to do anything by Constitutional decree, then why does Article I, Section 8 enumerate seventeen explicit powers? Indeed, if the aim was to erect a federal government with unlimited powers over all things without exception, why have a Constitution at all?

But Pelosi’s arrogation of unbounded power to Congress passed the public with hardly a whisper of protest. Shortly thereafter Congress passed ObamaCare in its entirety, and Barack Hussein Obama signed it into law. It was the victory parade of gradualism, and as such went almost unremarked by the national media.

We had no idea that the United States was headed for an upheaval only a few years later.

Donald Trump’s 2015 declaration of his candidacy for the presidency didn’t seem all that threatening to the existing political order at first. After all, it was his second time – he’d campaigned for the nomination of the Reform Party in 2000 – and his previous foray into presidential politics sank without a trace. But in 2016 Trump was serious, determined, and energized. He won “going away,” with an Electoral College margin far larger than even his most optimistic backers expected.

It was an upheaval...by the standards of the political Establishment. Its members were unanimous in denouncing the “upstart” as a danger to the nation, a threat to the “rule of law.” But President Trump’s actions in office made it appear somewhat different to the citizenry. To us, it looked more like a restoration: a return to the American norms and standards that preceded the “progressive” Establishment’s accession and its gradualist campaign.

Granted, it hasn’t been a “perfect” four years, whatever that might mean. Yet President Trump has been remarkably consistent and effective in carrying out his campaign pledges, and the nation has benefited hugely as a result. It took two utterly contrived “scandals,” a Chinese-engineered pandemic, and all the hatred and fear-mongering a Left-dominated press could conjure up to impede the Trump agenda. Despite all that, the Trump economy is already roaring back from the unwise and unnecessary “lockdowns” urged upon us by an irresponsible medical Establishment that will never pay a cost for its “mistakes.”

Tomorrow is Election Day. Tomorrow or hopefully, very shortly thereafter, we will learn whether the four years just behind us constitute a brief interregnum, a mere interruption in the march of anti-Constitutional, anti-American “progressive” socialism, or whether they’re the opening of an ongoing period of American restoration. The voting and all the phenomena surrounding it will decide.

There will be vote fraud and voter intimidation. There will be ballot harvesting. There will be fabricated votes and voting by non-citizens. There will be shenanigans in the media’s coverage of events, both while the balloting is in progress and afterward...perhaps long afterward. Despite our most ardent efforts, we could be bitterly disappointed. But we can only do what we can do.

     Vote Trump. And pray.

We approve this message.

People ask how we got here. Well, we got here because everyone needed a trophy for the last 30 years. We got here because we cannot determine our own damn gender. We got here because educators are communist recruiters. We got here because the black community in America has fallen into the depths of hell. We got here because we pay more attention to sports than education. We got here because there are millions voting that should have never made it past puberty. The list is too long. My keyboard is going to break.

The Gideon 300 Reinforcements Are Starting to Show Up

For a long time, those of us who were holding the line have felt abandoned. In 2008, when Obama and Biden first were elected to the Executive Offices, we were:

  • Ridiculed for our "paranoid" concerns about Executive overreach and abuses
  • Derided as a snaggle-toothed Nazi - BOTH evil AND dumb
  • Called 'Racist' at every opportunity
  • Questioned, with great concern, about our mental stability - couldn't we see that Obama was The Savior? How could we possibly not fall in with what everyone else was feeling and thinking?
  • Excluded from a lot of people's social media, in-person conversations, and lives
Fast forward to 2020. As it now stands, we're looking prophetic. The pro-MAGA crowds are growing - so much so, even the corrupt media is admitting the strength of that support. In formerly Democratic stronghold, Philadelphia, Trump supporters are coming out to demonstrate that support.

Establishment Dems are beginning to express their understanding that the election MAY well be lost. I don't think it's a ploy; they want to be able to show up on the talk shows and point to their 'early' call as evidence of their election savvy. They're looking like it's all but over.

The battle is NOT over - it's the election that shows the advice given long ago, by Hugh Hewitt, to run up the score. His book, If It's Not Close, They Can't Cheat, pointed out that the only thing that would hold back massive voter fraud was a literal flood at the polls. Which appears to be the result that is being delivered this election.

Or, so it seems. I'm a cautious person. I speed, but I also use a laser detector. I jaywalk, but I also look both ways. I'm seeing the signs of a massive landslide, but I'm still anxious, praying, and crossing my fingers.

On Sainthood

“You have to be a very good, and usually very dead person to become a saint. And more importantly, you need to work three miracles.” – Val Kilmer as Simon Templar, in The Saint

I wanted to take today off from this dive. I could use the rest. However, the urge to write something appropriate to the day – All Saints’ Day, if you haven’t noticed – kept recurring, and it was growing stronger with each recurrence. So here goes.

There was once a chessplayer and writer by the name of Franz Gutmayer. Gutmayer wasn’t a very good player. Oh, he probably could have beaten me eight or nine games out of ten, but then, I’m not a very good player either. At any rate, he took it upon himself to write a book titled How to Become a Chess Master. It wasn’t terribly popular, and was castigated by the great players of the day for its advice.

The most notable thing about this book is that Gutmayer was not a master and never earned the title. How shall we regard one who seeks to instruct us in doing something he cannot do himself? I wouldn’t take his teachings very seriously, would you?

But I’ve just remembered that I’m here to talk about sainthood. So here’s my question for today: If you’re a serious Christian – i.e., one who tries his best to live by that faith – would you presume to instruct others in how to earn sainthood?

Sainthood, be it remembered, means “only” admission to heaven and the existing communion of the saints. Yes, there are famous, officially canonized saints, but their distinction from other saints is their recognition by us who still wear the flesh. The humblest completely unknown peasant who lived a worthy life and has been admitted to heaven is just as much a saint as Thomas Aquinas, Francis Xavier, Therese Martin, Elizabeth Seton, or Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

I wouldn’t dare to try to teach others such a thing. I’m not a saint myself, being alive and ambling about this ball of rock. Having not yet been granted the title, to imagine that I could teach others how to attain it would be an act of the most atrocious arrogance. But here’s the Ace kicker: I would say the same thing about anyone else, be he Pope or paperboy, who dares to claim that he could teach you how to achieve sainthood.

So when I encountered the following:

...my neck hair rose. Did this Ghezzi fellow write his book while he was still alive, or did he dictate it to a medium after his death? What’s that you say? He’s still alive? Then he’s not yet a saint – so how could he possibly know how to become one?

All that having been said, there is an Authority on the subject – we call him the Christ – whose recommendations can be followed with confidence. But I wouldn’t advise you to trust the prescriptions of any lesser figure.

All Saints’ Day is the Catholic holy day on which we celebrate all saints — sainthood itself, if you will – including those whose names we the living do not and cannot know. There are probably many millions of saints; the annals of official canonization include only a couple of thousand. So on this day each year, we celebrate not only the famous ones the Vatican has already certified, but the far more numerous ones whose names and lives we know nothing about. The ones who never wrote a book. The ones who never preached a sermon. The ones, dare I say it, who never learned of Jesus of Nazareth and His New Covenant.

For the Redeemer Himself has told us:

When he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain. After he sat down his disciples came to him. Then he began to teach them by saying:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God.
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things about you falsely on account of me. Rejoice and be glad because your reward is great in heaven, for they persecuted the prophets before you in the same way.”

     [Matthew 5:1-12]

And indeed, the Church recognizes at least one saint who lived a thousand years before Christ:

St. Deborah (11th c. B.C.) was a godly widow and saint of the Old Testament. She was a courageous prophetess and champion of the Israelites. All Israel came to her to judge their disputes, and God prophesied to Israel through her. She was Israel's only female judge. Her role as the military leader who defended the Israelites is commemorated in the Bible's "Song of Deborah." It was her military counter-attack against Sisera at Mount Tabor that successfully delivered Israel's enemies into their hands. As prophetess, she foretold that Israel would have peace for 40 years following this victory. St. Ambrose and St. Jerome observed that St. Deborah is a good role model for the encouragement of courageous, godly women. Her feast day is November 1st.

So: We have the Redeemer’s statements on the subject, and the examples of the known, canonized saints. Good teachings and good examples to study! But I advise you to treat the living who presume to instruct you in how to achieve sainthood as persons of dubious authority. Unless they’ve met or exceeded the grandmaster norm in at least two qualifying tournaments, that is. And may God bless and keep you all!

A Man Of My Sort

“Anything worth doing is worth overdoing.” – Robert A. Heinlein

As I mentioned yesterday, we don’t usually get trick-or-treaters on our block, owing to the lack of sidewalks and streetlights...well, and also the propensity of teens on rice-burner road rockets to use it as an informal test strip. Nevertheless, every year I buy quite a lot of packaged chocolate candy – Milky Ways, Three Musketeers, Mounds, Snickers, York patties, Krackels, Kit Kats, and other members of the clan – “just in case.” I usually purchase enough to fill our punch bowl, which thereafter resides next to the front door for the six months it will take the two of us to empty it.

The C.S.O. thinks I’m nuts for doing this...but apparently I’m not alone:

And then it was time to hand out candy. Halloween, y'all. I didn't know how many kids would actually show up, so the Mrs and I made up our minds that the kids who did show up would benefit handsomely for doing so. We filled a ten-gallon tub with candy, and told the kids who showed up to take as much as they wanted. We didn't have nearly as many kids as last year, obviously, but we gave away about five gallons worth of candy. The rest will be going to work with me to torture my co-workers as they try to diet their pandemic pounds off.

Bravo, Dave. That’s the way Hallowe’en should be done! Though I’d retain the undistributed goodies for, ah, domestic use.
