I 'splain it to you.

Quizzed by CBS’ John Dickerson in an interview that aired Sunday on “Face the Nation,” Trump said he’d have similar concerns about a Muslim judge.

“It’s possible, yes. Yeah. That would be possible, absolutely,” he said.

“Isn’t there sort of a tradition though in America that we don’t judge people by who their parents were and where they came from?” Dickerson replied.

And Trump countered again, “I’m not talking about tradition — I’m talking about common sense, OK?”

"Trump: Muslim judge might not be fair to me either." By Kyle Cheney, Politico, 6/5/16.

Hence, Trump is the nominee. Rough around the edges, showmanship, and bluster yes. However, when you get to the meat of the discussion he is the only one whose view of reality matches that of most of us, the great unwashed.
Given that TPTB live in a different world from us it is no wonder that Trump's success bewilders them.

There's a great opening scene in Walther Mathau's "A New Leaf." He is a rich playboy whose accountant comes out to the golf course to tell him that his trust fund is depleted. The accountant struggles to explain the consequences of outflow exceeding inflow. It's hilarious.
