Ocasio-Cortez - Are People Underestimating Her Appeal?

This guy thinks so - and after reading it, I have to acknowledge he has a point.

I too Miss Linda, thought the same as Mr Kelley. I would not have voted for her and think she is appalling in her beliefs. I saw an appeal in her demeanor for less involved, less educated people. She works as a standard bearer for this generation.

She's a "pop star" and will be touted as such.

More importantly, over the next two years, any stupid stuff she says (!) will be broomed, and there will be articles about how she's "grown in office"... look for her to be made a major puppet, er, I mean player.

He right, but he got one thing terribly wrong. Trump did not carpet bomb Clinton. She won a majority of the popular vote. A majority of Americans are socialist, and they will vote for openly socialist politicians and openly socialist programs. Ocasio-Cortez has an excellent chance of becoming President, probably better than any other Democrat. You have to be 35 to run for President, so 2020 is too soon for her, but 2024 will do.

@sykes.1:

I agree. I saw a Bernie-Trump comparison; Trump would have been crushed.

You cannot argue convincingly against free stuff that others are paying for. More, Socialism relies on SIN, e.g., envy. Just like liberalism in general appeals to Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Vanity... fires up Wrath against the enemy, and Sloth, to lay around and just take what others have produced.

Those nasty "imaginary sky deity worshippers" who tend to be conservatives are such party-poopers. Restraint, delaying of gratification, etc., are such downers, man.
