Day Off

     Yes, yes, I took one only five days ago. That one was for pain and anxiety. Today it’s to:

  • Mow my lawn;
  • Attend to home maintenance chores;
  • Flesh out a staggeringly original idea for a new novel.

     Bear with me.

I can’t believe it’s been all day and no one commented on your flagrant dereliction of duty to the esteemed readership. I have to say, in my world, those three items you mentioned as reason to “take time off” is really not taking time off. Mowing is work …chores is work …working on a ‘staggeringly original idea’ …now that’s something to take a week off for, Francis. You could, like, take every other day off to work on the idea. That’s the way I would do it.

(chuckle) I know, I made it sound as if I was taking a "day off" from fun in order to work, but in truth, what I do here takes a fair amount of time and energy, so I really exchanged one kind of work for another.
