The sick hatred of one's own people.

Emmanuel Macron’s predictable victory in the second round of the French presidential election on May 7 is bad news for France and detrimental to the prospects of Europe’s cultural and demographic survival. For details see my June column in Chronicles: he is a paradigmatic pastiche of Europe’s postmodern transnational elite, a former international banker and fanatical Euro-integralist, an Islamophillic open-borders globalist willfully blind to the civilizational threat we all face. In brief, “Macron belongs to the elite class: rootless, arrogant, cynically manipulative, and irreversibly jihad-friendly . . . He embodies France’s loss of the will to define and defend one’s native culture, and the pan-European loss of the desire to procreate.”[1]
You will find do finer summary of the Western sickness than in Mr. Trifkovic's article. Found, let it be said, in Chronicles , a superb magazine that I cannot recommend highly enough.

Macron has explained in the past that France is not French. France doesn't have a culture. France is multicultural, and thus categorically not French.

Why the French voted for him is utterly beyond my comprehension.

Amazing stuff.

Yet the French voters flocked to him. A France that isn't French is preferable to a France led by a patriot.

The gentleman at The People's Cube has a pretty good take on it, though it's directed at Americans:
