The DACA Compromise May Be Better Than Expected - Updated

Trump's getting hammered by Immigration hardliners. That might not be fair, because, this might be a better compromise than expected - with ONE exception.

Here's a link to the statement from the White House.
  1. End to chain migration - yes, I know that it temporarily has exceptions for IMMEDIATE family. That could, however, be modified to restrict that exception in the future. What's more important is the end to the automatic allowing Green Card holders bringing in ALL the relatives (whether by blood or not).
  2. The "Dreamers" would get a Green Card - which, if the person doesn't fulfill the requirements of being self-supporting and committing no FURTHER crimes, can be revoked. Any citizenship is earmarked for 10-12 years in the future, IF that person qualifies. The worst of the crowd will not manage to fulfill their restrictions, and will be deportable. The best of them, well, OK, they will get a benefit that they truly don't deserve. Life isn't fair. Get over it.
  3. It establishes money for the wall. It's a start.
  4. No more visa lottery.
  5. I DON'T like the end of E-Verify. That provision, alone is enough to tank it for me. I was working in Charlotte when there was last a crackdown, based on E-Verify (BTW, it was a major pain-in-the-a$$ for me, as I had to run around finding all of these documents before starting work). Our school, and neighborhoods with large number of the foreign-born, were suddenly minus the Spanish-speaking people, for the most part. I mean, like within weeks, they were outa there. They self-deported, in bigly numbers. The economy recovered.

Where do you see an end to e-verify? The closest I can see is that Senator Grahamnesty isn't pushing it. I didn't see it mentioned at all in your link.

I believe that it was in one of the links, but it may have been in something I didn't link.

I checked - it was an old link from Breitbart

My error.

Whew.

It's just Reagan scam job 2.0. The amnesties will never stop and will come FIRST. The wall will be "under consideration" for the next 70 years.

It seems to be a superhuman effort is required to go to the mat on immigration. It's always and forever some gentlemanly act of "realism" that supposed non-leftist traitors embrace. "Better than nothing, chaps. Pip, pip! One more step toward national suicide and degradation of citizenship and national sovereignty."

The only acceptable position is enforcement first/today, promise of legalization (if any) in the distant future.

"It's just Reagan scam job 2.0."

You think the way Trump conned the Dems with the Schumer Shutdown suggests he's likely to fall for the exact same scam?

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

By the way, I saw an article yesterday saying that the Dems are rejecting Trump's offer out-of-hand, exactly as I implied and meant to more explicitly state: just like with the #SchumerShutdown, he made an offer that would've been very reasonable for the Democrats, but they refused to take, right in front of everyone, stamping their feet and again showing everyone that they care more about illegal aliens than citizens.

Rick C, Trump manages to draw the wild card every time. I mean he's definitely mastered the end run around the media and I definitely think he's reaching his stride. (Is reach the right word?) Alas, I fear that there is such an enormous wall of lies and distortion on the whole immigration issue that I think even Trump won't dig his feet in on the "amnesty dead last" option. He's said right out he wants some kind of DACA deal and he doesn't mean zero "dreamers" he means something like 1.8 to 5.0 million. He sure doesn't sound like a skeptic or a cynic when it comes to dealing with the immigration traitors. He seems to be making all the familiar "let us horrid right wingers move to the left in order not to seem too mean to our colleagues across the aisle" noises. I figure he's got just a few days to stake out a "hell no" position for himself. He ought to start with talking about the real "f" word today -- foreigner. But no one dares to utter the word. What they all implicitly assume is that every damn foreigners in the world somewhere has some claim to come here to make "a contribution."
