At least, one might conclude thus from this episode.
Manhattan, whose “official” name is New York County, was once known as “the place so nice you have to say it twice.” And for a brief time – the Giuliani and Bloomberg years – it lived up to that designation. No longer.
Have I mentioned that I favor making rape a capital offense? Well, I do. Time was, it was a hanging crime just about everywhere in the West. But don’t expect the black racialist mouthpieces to cotton to the idea – and they have more influence over the de Blasio Administration than anyone else in the Big Apple.

Why you wanna deny a brutha a good time? You white muthas do this sh** every time ya see a black man with a white woman.
I once read that when rape was a capital crime it was harder to get juries to convict. They reduced sentences in order to maximize the chance that the accused would be punished.
That's probably quite correct, Ilana. Though I feel that the crime deserves the harshest imaginable punishment, the necessity of getting rapists out of circulation probably outweighs that consideration, in all fairness.
Let's compromise.
One rape conviction? Yes, time, etc. Understanding that there is the possibility of a false / fraudulent conviction.
Two separate rape convictions, for separate incidences? Rapist. Tree. Rope. Assembly required. The odds that a person is innocent and falsely accused & convicted in both are essentially nil.
People watched and recorded but didnt intervene? NYX does deserve what it gets.
