Candidates Who Can’t Cut It

I recall that during the presidential campaign in 1980, one of the Democrats’ jabs at Ronald Reagan was that he was “too old,” and therefore probably not physically up to the rigors of the presidency, which are considerable. Reagan’s robust good health – Martin Anderson once described him as having “the build of a linebacker” – confounded everyone during his eight-year tenure in the White House.

Let’s return to a slightly more recent presidential campaign:

The numerous times Mrs. Clinton was visibly suffering poor health were glossed over by most of the mainstream media. They were determined to get her into the Oval Office even if they had to carry her there on a stretcher. It didn’t work out for them. A candidate of about the same age, but who possessed – and possesses – amazingly good health and “dragon energy” defeated her, sending the Virago from Chicago to a well-deserved retirement.

You’d think that after that fiasco, the Democrats would know better than to put forward yet another obviously physically infirm candidate for the presidency. You’d be wrong:

Sick and senile Joe Biden is eight days away from getting crushed in a debate with Donald Trump. The effects are starting to show. After taking about ten steps to make some token comments today, sick and senile Joe Biden was so out of breath, he was choking and could barely get the words out of his mouth.

Please go to Pacific Pundit (linked above) to view the videos.

This is a species of cruelty I would not have expected from the blackest of black-hearted villains...but the Left knows no limits to what it will do to retake the White House. The Dems’ strategists deemed Biden their best chance to defeat President Trump. To them, nothing else matters. Certainly not kindness toward a sick old man.

I don’t dey any of the geriatrics - even Trump. At that age, I’d rather be enjoying life, hassling the kids, and taking life easy.

Joe isn’t the only old bird that needs to be put out to pasture; Pelosi needs to go too. Getting old is no sin, but it’s like the geezers that still go on the road and drive when their eyesight is shot. There is a time to hang up the keys and quit.

Call me conspiratorial, but... any odds that he collapses under the strain at one of the debates, perhaps having been given "something" to make him do it, and then Her Heinous the Crone of Chappaqua steps up - *gag alert* - out of a sense of patriotism and love of country, because she deserved it the first time and was robbed and now wants a rematch?

That's my nightmare, Nitz. And this time, the Dems are pulling out all the stops. Non-citizen voters. Multiple voting. Deliberate destruction of absentee ballots from Right-inclined areas and cohorts. Ballot harvesting. Fabricated mail-in ballots from the dead. Intimidation at the polls.

Hell is coming to breakfast.

The goal, as I wrote (won't self-promote unless you want the specific one), is to create disenchantment and disengagement. Rome fell, in part, because the average Roman understood that the Rome they believed in was gone, and hopelessly corrupt. And thus they refused to defend it.

I believe, firmly, the Left is attempting to do that now.

I still don't get it - they had plenty of bought and paid for politicians around who were more attractive than Biden, so why stick with him? But R's ran with Dole a while back... I suppose the primary process might not be so cut and dried as we think? Does it favor the old party hacks? Seems to be so...

Hey Francis;

I believe that they will find some reason to have him step aside at the last minute, Corona, or some other reason. As far as Felonia Von Pantsuit, She couldn't handle the campaign before and 4 more years of swilling martini's or whatever other booze, she will still loose. Now The Donald has a proven track record of economic performance and he would love to "lock her up". LOL

They did it because it would have been Bernie otherwise. That would have been a electoral disaster of Biblical proportions for the Dems.

@Paul: The GOP is the one known for putting up the one who is "due" for the nod... the Left has always seemed to me to be a little more pragmatic in this.

@MrGarabaldi: If the first debate is as calamitous as it could be, with him being a deer-in-the-headlights, look for him to either withdraw (or be withdrawn) or suddenly go belly-up. "Natural causes" and all.

@Paul in Boston: Greetings neighbor. Not that I'd have voted for her, but in Tulsi they had someone who could have appealed across the aisle. But that's the problem - "the base" would never go for her.

I have a suspicion there's an awful lot of "wink wink nudge nudge" going on in the back rooms that if they can drag him across the finish line, he'll be going out the White House feet first within a month. "Natural causes" and all, the strain was too great, etc.

I cannot imagine the ambitious Ms. Harris tolerating any interference with her planned takeover. You think HRC was cutthroat - just wait!

Still, amazing as it still seems to me, people just don't LIKE her. Even my husband, usually one to look kindly on good-looking women, does NOT like her at all.

Do you really think she's good-looking, Linda? She's reasonably shapely, but to quote J. R. R. Tolkien, she has "a face that could curdle new milk." Then again, de gustibus and all that.
